Let me share my current “dream” the Ds win the House, hold the Senate and Obama wins the Electoral Collage and Romney wins the popular vote, then this would happen in no time.

PS if the people in Ohio really want to be left alone they would push this too.

I had a dream too when I was a younger man and I spent most of my life chasing it for me and my kids but that dream is in danger of becoming a nightmare. Now I don't believe that they will have an easier time than I had and I did not have it easy by any means. I'm scared for them but I never tell them that though. I 'Ache4Change'!

What do you think we should do?

[-] 1 points by Ache4Change (3340) 12 years ago

Stop giving in to the banks and corporations, stop expensive wars, stop letting the richest in our society call the shots all the time and let's give democracy a go! I think that is reasonable or is that too radical?

There was a brief time in the nineties I was hopeful.

The fear of the people is what brought us the "Electoral College."

It's buffer effect does have some advantages.

To merely have not had to deal with the HORRORS of the REPUBLICON-1% Bush-Chenney disaster, I'm all in!

I think it was a matter of practicality (not to pick a fight)

You may have seen this not exactly on topic but close.

This is a great concept - ending the EFFECT of the electoral college
But their web site hides their simple solution OFF of their main page!

Under the National Popular Vote bill, all of the state's electoral votes would be awarded to the presidential candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The bill would take effect only when enacted, in identical form, by states possessing a majority of the electoral votes—(270 of 538).

cryptic? difficult? not user friendly?

and they have 132 already when they hit 270 it goes into effect we need NY on this

(I agree the site needs help)

They dont even have an email! I "signed up" as a volunteer - as the only way to contact them -

The good thing about the GOP is they are easy to manipulate this could be a good year for the movement with a little push and a little luck.

Yeah? If they are so easy to manipulate, why are the Democrats always complaining about them?

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8342) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

I was referring to GOP voters.

On the GOP topic: they copy us, but really REALLY badly.

Clinton ~ Palin

Obama ~ Steele

Bush failure ~ Obama failure

They have collected together the most gullible of Americans and gave them a party to believe in.

What ever works!!!

As long as the redistribution to the top 1% is UNINTERRUPTED!!!

And we keep pulling each other down like crabs in a bucket.

on the other hand something that's sort of cool about it is that it is a state by state thing, if you can find local reps that are aware of it, state reps are not so hard to meet here face to face

(maybe somebody could help them with the "new social medium")
