I have been reading news and watching videos about OWS since it began. I firmly believe there are hundreds of thousands of supporters, if not millions that are like myself, who have unfortunate reasons they cannot get to the protests due to financial responsibilities, jobs, family, location, disability and what not. If I had the money and was not currently disabled I would be right there on wall street occupying in person instead of through the internet!
I'm embarrassed to say that I worked for one of those too big to fail banks for 12 long miserable years. They make you lie to and cheat the customers out of their money. They would make you try to sell products they know are worthless to the customers to generate revenue, in hopes the customers would forget to cancel them and be charged month after month and year after year, among many other schemes. You could take fees off for the customers who could afford to pay them but not for the customers who could not afford them.
The pay was good for someone like myself who never had interest in going to college. That is how they keep you though, pay you just a little more than an average worker at other places to keep you but not enough to comfortably live off of. They brainwash you into believing they care about you as an employee and then give you pathetic raises, take vacation time away, not pay you for time worked each day at the beginning of your shift, take away your free speech by not allowing you to defend yourself against the customers who criticize you and so forth.
I truly would have rather given those 12 years of my life to an employer that would have rewarded me for the hard work and dedication I did put in instead of worrying more about their top dollar and shareholder profits which now are nothing. Glad I didn't leave my 401k money in their common stock!
Anyway, that is my story and I hope millions around the world will follow and become a part of these great, and hopefully life changing movements for the sake of the world.
We are the 99%!
