However, I work PT and my husband works FT. He is a recent MBA grad with a 4.0GPA. He is having trouble finding another job. But are we out there crying about it? No, we are home doing everything we can to support ourselves and our 2 kids. I think you should all go out and get a job. What exactly do you all stand for? Do you have a mission statement? What exactly would you like to see happen? And this "I want my fair share" stuff. I want mine too! But let me tell you, I do not want a handout and I do not want to take it form someone who worked hard for their share. I want to work for my share! And when I finally get there I do not want to give it to people who do not feel like working! Minimum wage is below you? Well, maybe if you started a minimum wage at McDonalds, and you work hard enough you could end up OWNING a McDonalds one day. But maybe that would go against everything you stand for? How can you feel good about yourselves when yoga re closing down businesses where you are? You are making them close their doors and lose money thus hurting their employees. How is that okay? Go get a job and get off the streets.
Who says we don't have jobs? I have my own house. I have no debt. I have a job. Now what? Now what are you going to tell me to do? Take a shower? Just had one, thanks.
You want to know what we stand for, but then you go ramble on about things like you already think you know what we stand for. Why don't you go read the "about" page for starters. Do you really even care what this movement is about, or are you just here to waste our time?

I'm bored to death by your type. maybe your husband could put his MBA to good use and look into exactly what caused the current financial crisis and subsequent bailout. After he has learned a few things and is angry enough perhaps he could get into politics and try to bring back Glass/Steagle so the we could turn America's financial system back into something that works for everyone instead of a giant money pot for high stake gamblers. Hows that ?get a book learn something and get off the internet
Haha! You're not in the 99%? your MBA husband needs to add onto his 40 hour work week to make ends meet? Or are you saying he is working some other job until some employer notices HIS 4.0 MBA amongst the stacks of hundreds of other 4.0 MBA 's applying for the same job? If you can stop worrying about your bills for a moment, allow me to congratulate you upon being in the 1%! I hope you use your wealth toward the betterment of mankind! If you are not among the 1%, then allow me to suggest a competent mental health facility equipt with padded cells and anti-psychotic meds.
She is using her wealth for the betterment of mankind. It's called providing for her family. Most likely she does more for the betterment of mankind than all of you snot nosed little brats hanging around in the park, put together. Sounds like you, Pertello are nothing but a greedy beggar, demanding a fair share from people that you have no right to. Now go find a job. You so called 99% need the psyche meds.
Haha! I have a job! I help people every day in my 40+ hour a week job! I hear their sad stories of greedy banks, predatory lenders and bloodsucking collectors hundreds of times a week! I know what is going on out there. I hear it, see it, smell it and live it every minute of my life. I cannot escape it if I tried because every day brings more and more poor victims of corporate greed telling me their stories. I use the knowledge I have to help them in any way I can. All day every day I listen and feel their hopelessness. I wish I could reach out to all of them and give them $$$, protect them from the legal merry-go-round of the court system, and allay their fears, but all I can do is my job: inform them of their legal rights and the laws of the FDCPA. But I am only 1 person and there are hundreds of thousands, millions of them.
Maybe these greedy corporations should all close the doors. See what that brings.
Those who jeer at our efforts for economic equity will eventually become part of the movement. The reason is simple: the entire global economy is not sustainable. The raping of the world economy by the parasites of Wall Street will catch up to everyone; including the 1 %. Its not rocket science. When a parasite kills off the host the parasite also dies off. The goal of this movement is to find non-violent methods for preventing total world wide economic collapse. The first objective towards this goal was ‘occupation’ which was very useful in waking people up to the fact that governments world wide were purchased by the parasites to foster their unbridled greed for money and power.
1% doesn't cut it anymore, you have to be 0.5%. Until next year, when it's less. It's all about last man standing. We're all bums compared to him.
Yeah, some people don't have the jobs they want to have, and for them, acting like the protesters are idiots is their only idea of how to get those jobs. Quit being meanies to them.
No one is asking for a handout schmuck, we're asking for a level playing field. And who says we're losers? I own a film production company - so I'll pass on your idiotic MC Donalds scenario, you sound like fucking idiot. And I interviewed a local deli who was CASHING IN ON ALL THE BUSINESS. so this MYTH that the protesters are hurting business is just that - A MYTH. You are watching too much television darling, you need to TURN OFF THE TELEVISION and see things as they really are. But I have a feeling that you may not be who you are representing yourself to be, this forum has been infiltrated by a massive conterintelligence disinfo campaign. So it's likely you are merely one of these low paid disinfo trolls in an office in virginia or maryland where a lot of this garbage emmanates from.
What exactly do you mean by "level playing field?" My father is the son of two german immigrants how came to this country in the 1950's not knowing a word of english. He spoke german before he was able to learn english because his parents didn't know the language themselves. He learned english by watching cartoons on tv and from kids at school when he was a very young. My father went to public school and worked his way through college; it took him six years to obtain a bachalors degree in aeronautical engineering becauase he had a full time job as a baggage handler at LaGuardia Airport to pay for school. He saved his money and bought the appartment building he was living in at the time when he was 27 years old. He then left the engineering industy when he married my mother and ran my grandfather bakery in Brooklyn. He left the bakery and bought a carwash which put my two brothers and me through elementary and high school. He has sold the carwash in May of this year and bought an appartment building in Manhattan and just bought a laundromat with his two friends a little over a month ago. I agree that you are not asking for handouts, but my father has come from absolutly nothing and has made something of himself when the playing field was tilted against him.
I am not trying to start an argument, pick a fight, or call out anyone...I am just trying to understand this OWS movement. While I am very interested in discussing this, please only respond if you have something constructive to say and without the name calling and vulgarity. Thank you.
Hello Jack In the 1950's the United States enjoyed unprecedented levels of wealth. The immediate years of post WWII America achieved the highest real income levels in it's history. Things were a lot different then.
Now when the billionaire oligarchy sets us all up for one of their profitable wars, the implicit rouse is that we'll get cheap oil out of the deal. So this fake-out tricks many apathetic Americans not so much to support the war but to sit on their ass and not do a damn thing about it.
Now if you know anything about this ruling clique who owns both the weapons industry and the media and if you have witnessed the past 15 years of actual history, you will then see that the thing never ends up lowering or even stabilizing the price of oil at the pump.
Now why is this? I'll tell you why this is, it is because since they have such a total lockdown on information (namely TV News channels) that they don't need to share the stolen oil, they simply pocket the part of the loot that they implicitly promised would go to the American people, and then through their media they make up a lie as to why this is and that is good enough.
If you know the history and characteristics of this very small group that the OWS people correctly have named "The Oligarchy" you will know that they are the most ruthless cartel of criminals this world has ever seen.
Men like David Rockefeller or the Koch brothers do NOT have the best interests of the American people as their objectives. To think that they would is evidence of a fantastic success of brainwashing by the TV networks.
Doo you, Jack, really think a billionaire like Bloomberg has the best interests of the common man at heart? If you do then you must reexamine why you do, and work this out for yourself.
The theft of the wealth of America and it's transference to the Bank Accounts of the elite wealthy is shocking and a disgrace.
The threats posed by these powers who own the Federal Reserve was warned about by Lincoln and Jefferson. Do you think it is a good idea that a group of privately owned banks own our Federal Reserve? Do you think it's a good idea to bail out banks who are frantically foreclosing on anyone they can? Do you thing it's a good idea that we continuously engage in these OIL THEFT wars posing as "Spreading Democracy"
And who do you think benefits from these wars? The American People? Do you really think this. If you cannot see the need for this movement than I suggest all you have to do is open your eyes.
