Get a job!!!! These people are sad and pathetic! I am sorry that they haven't taken complete advantage of what America has to offer. Sitting around in your own filth shows your worth. That sounds mean, but there are so many opportunities out there. I am not any where close to rich, but I don't expect anyone to hand me anything....that is ridiculous. This is the land of opportunity, not the land of entitlement!

Sorry, I´m more ashamed of your type of people. Not your fold, must be a bad educative system, or the media. Hope you change your mind and joint them for many causes, not to ask for some bucks.

[-] 2 points by dadgader (47) from Vancouver, WA 13 years ago

Well, I'm in the top 5% at least, have a job, always have, but even I can see there are fewer and fewer opportunities out there as billionaires look for the cheapest labor around the world. The facts don't back up your observation from your ivory tower.

[-] 2 points by winstonfliggurd (17) 13 years ago

Is your generation, by any chance, currently 8-16 years old? You sound curiously uninformed.

GETTING JOBS DOES NOT CREATE EQUALITY!!! What will getting jobs accomplish?? Will it stop these huge corporations from taking money from their employees pay checks to give to themselves? Will it stop the governments of the world from carelessly using up all the worlds resources, or stop corporations from paying government officials to get their way in a vote? No, it accomplishes absolutely nothing but ALLOW THESE COMPANIES TO CONTROL OUR LIVES. How about instead of just bashing this movement, DO SOME DAMN RESEARCH AND REALIZE THIS PROBLEM IS VERY REAL.

[-] 2 points by morriden (128) from Burton, MI 13 years ago

If there are sooooooooooo many opportunities out there, then why are there millions of Americans out of work. Explain to me why I have 10 years experience and two Degrees but im out of work. Every time I try to find a job even something simple like walmart I get told im over qualified.

So oh its so great and everything is perfect... Tell me where.

better yet I am in Flint Michigian, if you can find me a job ill take it.

SO put your money where your mouth is and bring these jobs out.

[-] 2 points by CuttheBS (143) 13 years ago

If you put you have 10 years of experience in whatever field you were in and that you have 2 degrees, it's obvious to the Walmart hiring manager that you're not in it for the long haul. He doesn't want to have to do the search again 3 months later if you were to find a job in your desired field. Tailor your resume/application to the job you're applying to. good luck.

[-] 2 points by morriden (128) from Burton, MI 13 years ago

So If I remove all those years of experience... Ill have no experience at all.

Yay im a thirty year old man with no experience oh, yea that will work. How do you tailor a resume when you done the same job and nothing else? Iv manpulated my resume so many times I could write a book or write a law to send into congress. Sadly if it was that easy after 3 years I would agree with you. Again, it is not. 95% of jobs today are acquired by who you know. Statistical math you can find from many different websites. Being apart of and allies to different temples and lodges I know this for a fact.

Sad, but the 4 or 8 years we put into collage is just paying for a peice of paper. What we learn in collage is sadly forgotten. When you are hired you are trained and can learn on the job most professions. (most, not all)

If I could find a job in my field id still be supporting these people in any way I can.

I am taking many opportunities for myself at this time. I get no handouts and have re-invented myself after loosing a business to outsourcing. I also know that we don't have enough opportunities to go around and it will get worse if we don't act. We forgive you for not being able to understand the whole picture. Corruption continues to embed itself in our government and it must be stopped. I love this movement. It speaks for all of mankind. It is one of our country's finest moments!

[-] 1 points by zarathustra (18) from Orrington, ME 13 years ago

This is a country of Imperialism - stop conquering, stop growing. The Romans expanded and conquered for 1500 years. When the expansion stopped, resources stopped coming in, slave labour ended, the Empire divided, disention set in and it consequently fell. The United States is in the SAME position today. We have over 700 STANDING MILITARY BASES around the GLOBE. We have invaded other countries on the premise of democracy when in reality we've removed or killed democratically elected officials that would not sell-off resources to US conglomerates, replacing them with dictators who would play ball. This is, in part, the lack of jobs, not lazy people. Big business would much rather pay someone in China $6 a day rather than an American $80/day with the possibility of a 401k?? GOD FORBID! I HAVE a job, I am 22. I work 40 HOURS A WEEK and take classes FULL-TIME. The problem we have is that this country is disproportionately stacked to favor the rich with ever increasing wealth and political power at the EXPENSE of the middle-class who are the backbone of this country. Wake up, enough of this hateful bigotry. It is such a cop-out assume that people standing up for what they, and in reality YOU, believe in, are pot-smoking, lazy, worthless, unemployed, uneducated people. TRUTH: this movement is on every continent and consists of all demographics. I think it would be logical to assume that maybe possibly some of these people have jobs, on even more reasonable that their grievences have gone unanswered long enough to provoke such social unrest. Grow-up, stop spewing your ignorant nonsense and take the time to COLLABORATE!

[-] 1 points by enough (587) 13 years ago

Archie Bunker could not have expressed your sentiments more eloquently. You're self-satisfied remarks indicate that you think anyone who doesn't have a job is a lazy useless dirt bag. There, but for good fortune, go you or I.

I have a great job and I am lucky enough to have a a comfortable life. But what does it matter If our democracy is dead. I don't got enough money to bribe the politicians like wall street does. All we want is freedom, justice and a true democracy that cant be bought and sold.

Is it to much to ask for?

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23828) 13 years ago

Um. There is 9.1% unemployment. Do you follow the news? It's hard to undo what you've been brainwashed with but try to understand facts. 1 in 7 people get food stamps, 20% of children live in poverty, CEO's earn 343 times the average worker's wage, college tuition averages $35,000/year at private schools, wages have fallen 7% over the past decade, home prices have plummeted, foreclosures are skyrocketing. You should be proud of what these young people (and there are some old ones too) are doing. They are fighting for economic fairness for your future and children's future.

IT jobs thriving despite lackluster economy

By John Moore, CNBC.com Updated 8/15/2011 5:29 PM

As more companies realize the value of aligning information technology projects with business goals, employers are looking for people with solid business skills to fill certain roles in the information technology department.

Even in a tough labor market, IT is where the jobs are. The unemployment rate for technology jobs was 3.3% in June, compared with a 9.2% unemployment rate overall that month, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In the most recent edition of its Occupational Outlook Handbook, the BLS said it expects IT employment to grow "much faster than the average" of all occupations through 2018.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23828) 13 years ago

You're right. The IT job market is okay and that has saved my family, but we can't all be IT people.

[-] 1 points by TechJunkie (3029) from Miami Beach, FL 13 years ago

Of course not, but there are other fields in high demand. Health care, for example. What's lacking is not only jobs, but also a willingness of the workers to re-train for the jobs that are in demand. The job crisis is the sum of both of those two things.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23828) 13 years ago

I don't know TechJunkie, for me, I follow the numbers. 9.1% unemployment means not enough jobs.

[-] 1 points by TechJunkie (3029) from Miami Beach, FL 13 years ago

The unemployment rate would be much lower if more of those unemployed people would train for new industries. 3.3% is much lower than 9.1%, right? It's what you do in hard times, especially if ere are opportunities available in other industries. There are.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23828) 13 years ago

I agree that the unemployed should do whatever they have to do to get a job. Re-train, move out of state, etc. However, I think the numbers are the numbers. The Unemployment rate reflects the number of jobs available vs. the number of workers looking for work. This is where it gets sticky and some people try to shame the unemployed by blaming them and saying they are not looking hard enough, they're lazy, etc. That is just crap, sorry.

[-] 1 points by TechJunkie (3029) from Miami Beach, FL 13 years ago

We could both be right.

[-] 0 points by ItsOnlyMe (43) 13 years ago

Big deal. There was more unemployment during the great depression, yet people then didn't act like idiots like the "occupy" clowns.

[-] 2 points by beautifulworld (23828) 13 years ago

They didn't have to. They had a government that was actually trying to help them.

[-] 0 points by ItsOnlyMe (43) 13 years ago

If the govt. isn't trying to help now, why does OWS back Obama?

Besides, back then people believed in helping themselves.

[-] 2 points by beautifulworld (23828) 13 years ago

That's nonsense. First of all, OWS doesn't back Obama or any candidate. Second, Obama can't get anything done because Congress is doing nothing. Well, not nothing, they succeeded in getting the U.S. downgraded so that, lucky us, we can pay more for our debt. Third, have you ever heard of FDR, President during the Depression and the New Deal? Roosevelt put all sorts of stimulus programs in place to get people back to work. Finally, I don't think people believe any less in helping themselves today as they did then. They just had a lot more governmental help then.

[-] 1 points by Noid (22) 13 years ago

You are naive to assume that evertbody is out of a job and refuse to work. Do the reserch about what is going on. Look it up on the net look up everything dont just take the news's word. I spent over a week now reserching these guys. Making sure that I know exactly what, who they are and what there about. I have seen that many of them do have jobs and go to these jobs and then go back to the streets to protest whats wrong with this country. I support these guys for who they are and what they are trying to achieve. Look it up for yourself and you may find out you do to.

[-] 0 points by ItsOnlyMe (43) 13 years ago

Next time you're doing your "reserch", consult a dictionary.

Many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategically Weighted Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

http://getsatisfaction.com/americanselect/topics/on_strategic_legal_policy_organizational_operational_structures_tactical_investment_procedures

Join

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StrategicInternationalSystems/

because we need 100,000 “support clicks” at AmericansElect.org to support a Presidential Candidate -- such as any given political opportunist you'd like to draft -- in support of the above bank-focused platform.

Most importantly, remember, as cited in the first link, that as Bank Owner-Voters in your 1 of 48 "new" Business Investment Groups (or "new" Congressional Committees) you become the "new" Congress replacing the "old" Congress according to your current Occupation & Generation, called a Focused Direct Democracy.

Therefore, any Candidate (or Leader) therein, regardless of party, is a straw man, a puppet, just like today, for it's the STRATEGY – the sequence of steps – that the people organize themselves under, in Military Internet Formation of their Individual Purchasing & Group Investment Power, that's important. In this, sequence is key.

Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.

The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.

Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupation & Generation.

So please JOIN the 2nd link so we can make our support clicks at AmericansElect.org when called for, at exactly the right time, by an e-mail from that group, in support of the above the bank-focused platform. If so, then you will see and feel how your goals can be accomplished within the above strategy as a “new” Candidate (or Leader) of your current Occupation & Generation.
