They already have: OAJ (Occupy American Jobs).

Dude, the Chinese have already Occupied. Have you never been to San Francisco?

That sounds racist.

It isn't really, I love the food, but even cooking in the wok leaves oil residue in the food. That is the way Chinese cook their food, they use a wok. It is a traditional form of cooking. I couldn't eat Italian food all the time either, and I love that also, the tomatoes are acidic. The US is a mecca for foods of all nations, but if they were taken over by one other country, that could very well change.

Why would it be racist? I'm stating a fact. Chinatown is an alternative community, living on its own economic principles, unattached to regulations typical of the rest of the community. It's a protest against American society: by not integrating, they are making a statement as a culture. There's nothing wrong with it. It's reality.

Oh. OK.

On another thread, I failed to respond to you. So here it goes.

Actually I am making the argument that everyone should take the job available at the salary offered. It is better than staying unemployed.

However, I am also making the argument that people who do not like income inequality would not want to steal jobs from poor Chinese laborers, and in fact should voluntarily lower their own wages to reduce income inequality across the globe.

If we lower the wages of low level workers, the wages of those who earn 1000 times more than the average worker should be lowered proportionately as well.

People would need to look at the culture and society of China to be able to think about what being under their rule would be like. We all like Chinese food, but how much of it can you eat till your stomach revolts and says take me to the deli, the grease is killing me.

I, for one, welcome our new, industrious, overlords.

If they started with Wall Street (the second biggest cause of their problems, behind Wall Street), I might support it.

Frankly it would be nice if China would exchange its $1T of treasury bonds for US goods and services. And then Japan do the same with its $900B. It would fix the problem right handily, and bring their exchange rates back to a sensible place too.

You better hope they don't start selling those off UST's. Unless you like rates through the roof.

I am sure if the price is right China and Japan will. If I were advising them I would ask them to go for public assets. Many cities and states even are selling public assets like parking lots, meters etc. I would buy those and then raise prices. Public transportation would be another thing. Basically infrastructure. The trouble is no one knows how the USA would react under such situations. They may just forcibly repatriate it.

Public parks would be another thing. National reserves. Things of that nature.

You'll find very few people here who actually care they are marching on behalf of foreign nationals. Its common knowledge, yet they carry on.

Seems like no one would really like it. I wonder why people like the OWS movement then. The shoe doesn't fit on the other foot.

[-] 0 points by REALamerican (241) 13 years ago

Thats the ONLY thing about OWS that really unsettles me. The original creators and funders are a bunch of communist and socialist Canadians? Yeah, that sounds legit!

[-] 0 points by happybanker (766) 13 years ago

They won't do that until we default on our debt.

[-] 1 points by lisa (425) 13 years ago

If someone, or a group of someone's take down the Stock Exchange on Wall Street, send the market's crashing, foreign investors pulling their money out. Other countries lose confidence in the US, they can decide they don't want the US dollar to be the world's reserve currency, China holds a lot of the cards because they loan us the most money.

You are thinking too much. Just Occupy and it will make everything better!

But if they did, would Americans like it and voluntarily give away American wealth to the Chinese like bankers are expected to do now to the middle class and the poor?
