To understand how revolutions are born, we have to first study the history of the French revolution. Mary Antionette said “if people do not have bread to eat, then let them eat cake”. Which means there was poverty, hunger and famine at that time in France. A hungry man is an angry man, the French revolted in hunger, they built the guillotine and the rest of the story you know. When you come home if your wife and children are hungry and you do not have the money to buy them food, then you become angry. Look at Egypt, Syria, Yemen, these are poor countries. In hunger they revolted and overthrew their governments. In Saudi Arabia, the King rules like a despot, but people do not care, as they have all their luxuries, houses, cars, food, tv, entertainment, so on.
This situation of people going hungry to bed does not exist anywhere in North America, both in US and Canada. Most people get some job or the other, social assistance is there, shelter, soup kitchens and that is the reason revolution will not take place anywhere in North America. It is very easy for someone even in the worst possible situation to go and earn forty to fifty dollars in a day. Why would they forgo this money and spend time in Occupy wall st. If you dispute this statement and claim that there are millions of people who are unemployed and cannot make even fifty dollars in a day, then they should all be there shouting in liberty square occupy wall st. I do not expect “Occupy wall st” to last long. Secondly Occupy wall st does not have a good leader. In the past there were great leaders like, George Washington and Martin Luther King to name just a few. It appears that America is bankrupt of leaders.
When people have food to eat and their basic necessities are covered then political apathy sets in as in US and Canada. Taking advantage of this the one percent rich, who also control the news and the media, scammed/manipulated the electoral system and swindled the country of its wealth. The entire American electoral process is nothing but a big scam. This is not how fair elections are conducted in other countries.
Let me explain to you how fair elections are conducted in other countries. The ballot boxes are made of steel and are fitted with locks which are sealed three days prior to the elections in the presence of all the candidates and their representatives. After the polling is over the ballot boxes are brought back to a central place in each city and the votes are counted in the presence of all the candidates and their representatives. This process takes a few hours, sometimes more than a day. The ballot boxes are not kept in all the buildings for polling. The ballot boxes are kept for polling only in a few select government buildings or a few schools. For example if hundred thousand voters are in a particular area, then there will be only five places or ten places where polling will take places in that area The buildings where polling takes place is constantly video monitored so that the candidates and their representatives can keep a watch so that frauds/cheating and scams do not take place. But for all this to happen, there must be constant hunger, or political apathy sets in. These electoral reforms can never take place in North America, where people get sufficient food to eat and do not know what hunger is. Conduct fair elections and see, most of these politicians who claim to be hardworking will not get elected.
May you should research about The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 and The Independent Treasury Act of 1920 to be able to understand why our monetary system and treasury department is now in the hands of Goldman Sacks.
So why protest Wall Street? Your gripe is with the US govt!
You would get allot more people advocating for your cause if you could articulate better the situation with QEI and QEII and Goldman etc.
There's too much radical crap here that most Americans will never buy into.
Pressure should be on the Govt. What I see happening here is the left is finally taking an interest in "follow the money". The right picked up on it a few years ago. The mainstream middle doesn't get it at ll yet, but maybe this OWL thing could help. I just think you should be in Washington in mass, from all over the US and have a clear message and get rid of the radical fringe that makes no sense.
Let me explain to you about currency - the private bank the Federal Reserve has been printing U.S. dollars into oblivion since its inception. Every time Bernanke clicks a mouse on a computer screen, he gives a fat balance to some corrupt insolvent bank (often foreign) or to their friends.
The CPI, or consumer price index, doesn't count gas or food. So in other words, they calculate inflation and don't look at how much it costs us to travel, heat our houses, or eat.
There are many Americans that are hungry already. True, it hasn't reached the level that it is in many countries, but just wait - the Greatest Depression, brought to you by the Fed, backed by the Biggest Bully military force in the world, is just getting started. Don't worry, we'll see food riots here soon enough. Greece has to eat crow again, the Eurozone is falling apart, and we're next on the financial fun ride, brought to you by our courageous leaders.
