Am I hearing this right or am I going out of my mind?
Have some Democrats on the so-called “Super Committee” actually proposed hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid in some kind of concession effort to try and draw Republicans to do likewise?
That is what is being claimed in my communication from The AFL/CIO Union News Blog today.
If that is true then I am aghast at the Democrats pursuing this line of thinking because as everybody knows—when one is dealing with Conservatives and concessions are made, there are always endless other concessions demanded. That is the way I perceive it, anyway, being the rank amateur that I am in all things political. (But I do have some experience with the Conservative lack-of-intellect.)
I simply cannot believe or even imagine that some of our own Democrats can be naive enough to think that the only way out of this fabricated financial crises is to make deep cuts to middle class benefits. To me that is irresponsible. I am of the opinion that the Middle Class and the Poor and Elderly of America have already given enough of their blood, sweat and tears so that the rich can get even richer.
I think I am beginning to get a clear vision of why the Occupy Wall Street People are out there! I think they have had enough of this kind of government stuck up their noses and taking what little they have away and giving it to the fat cats– they have just gotten justifiably angry and are trying to send a message to those who rule this fair land of ours. I think it is purely disgusting that America has allowed the rich to do all the taking and the rest of us to do all the real belt tightening!

Well see here is the problem. It is all crap.
This fiscal year, after the republicans made Obama just cut spending to the bone over the raising of the debt ceiling, we will be spending MORE money then last year.
The "super committee" regardless of what they do, will not begin to make a dent in even one years deficit, and remember this is a 10 year plan.
Keep in mind in ALL of the 10 year plans, which are drawn up non-stop; all of the spending cuts that people worry over, are always in years 8, 9 and 10.
All the increased spending is in the first years - of course that keeps people voting for them all.
Not to mention that every single congress simply ignores these plans and does what they want to do.
What they are all missing is the giant opportunity to completely reform the tax code. This is perhaps the one time in decades where I think, they could throw out the whole damn code and start over.
Problem of course is everyone hates all of the deductions, except for the deductions that benefit them. That keeps us from ever doing anything different except for at the very edges.
Oh well..I don't have a tent, but I do have quite a bit of ammunition and the means to propel it should the collapse of the USofA should happen.
You should be more disgusted that our government is cutting spending on social programs but is not cutting out its foreign spending and spending at the pentagon and other bloated federal budgets.
So why the fuck arent they protesting Washington?
Because it is not as sexy, plus the real reason for the movement is INCREASED government.
And free shit, never forget the free shit.
