There has to be some present day equivalent to Gandhi's Salt March, which triggered a massive revolt against Britain's salt tax & the prohibition against making one's own salt: http://www.english.emory.edu/Bahri/Dandi.html
Transferring one's cash from Wall Street banks to local community banks and credit unions is a great idea, but not powerful enough. We should insist that our local governments, the companies we own and for which we work, stop using these banks. Here's a list of the crooked banks: http://www.fhfa.gov/Default.aspx?Page=110
This is a great line of thought. What worked for Gandhi? I saw something somewhere about an 'Occupy Swap' on the Occupy Together site. That to me is a good idea as well. I don't have any definite answers for you at the moment, but i like where you are going with the question.
peace.
Well, you could do a "close your bank account" march. Gather a big group together, pick some route that will take you by a few of the bigger banks, and whoever has an account to close, in orderly fashion, go in and close their accounts, withdrawing all their money.
People will be arrested, or the banks will lock their doors, nobody will get to close their account. This is good on the one hand because you don't want everyone walking around with all their money in cash anyway, and good on the other hand because it will send a message. There have already been some small scale incidents where people tried to close their accounts and were refused or even arrested.
I don't know, just throwing that one out there.
Well Ocean water is pretty salty,.. maybe you all should march to the bottom of the ocean and hang out there for at least a good 5 minutes.
A scuba diving march. Good suggestion.
Excellent question.
