OccupyAmerica: I suggest a GENERAL STRIKE on November 22, 2011, the day before the so-called Congressional Supergroup is to submit another dysfunctional plan to continue the present system. On Tuesday, November 22: Don't spend a cent anywhere. Don't go to work. Don't go to school. Don't drive an automobile. Don't go to restaurants, or any entertainment venue at all. Don't use public transportation. Don't watch television. Don't bank, shop, pay bills. #OccupyAmerica – everywhere. Then, enjoy Thanksgiving in parks and streets and homes and community centers, and bright and early on November 25 #BoycottWallstreet. #BoycottBlackFriday No malls. No Walmart, CostCo and all of them. If they're on the big board, boycott. Move all banking to credit unions. Begin to plan to only shop in locally owned and operated stores for everything. No franchise stores of any kind. #BoycottAmerica. Don't even talk with national media. Only local media. Keep resource in the community. Don't consume, except for that which one needs for survival - and buy those items from locally owned establishments. Demand an equitable distribution of the country's resources. And don't stop until there is Actionable Results. Cursing Darkness, and Lighting Candles.
A general strike is a great idea. Of course, in New York City, the Taylor Law punishes civil servants two days pay for every day they walk, with the union leaders being subject to imprisonment. But, something has to give at some point, and sacrifices have to be made. At last week's DC37 rally many of the union leaders were vowing to "shut it all down". I would like to see some follow-up to this. Nothing could be more effective.
Rather than attempt to boycott the entire economy of America, I suggest a divide a conquer approach. Boycott one greedy corporation at item. See the "Divide and Conquer" post just below yours.
How about everybody that works for a corporation quit their job and walk out and protest the unjust pay scales of corporate executives worldwide.
I like your timing this super committee has a lot of latitude and could go a long way to correct the greed.
This is exactly what is needed. Everyone needs to stop working and bring the revenue system for those who are running the system (the global elite) to it's knees. Send a clear message to the jackasses in charge thay they are not going to make a damn penny, and in fact are going to loose money until they come to the table to adress the public's greivances.
