Answer: when they need - need money - need resources - need to put people to work.......................

World wide economic meltdown - well Western World(?)

Note; Number of armed conflicts happening right now.

Note; Number of newly poor from a failed economy.

Note; The need to shore up capital institutions ummm governments as well.

Note; The armed conflicts in the world today are basically over resources - not about humanity or rights violations - NO - resources - control of - access to.

When do countries go to war? When their population will support it.

What gets a population desperate? Poverty.

What do wars traditionally do? Go after sources of money resources for industry - put people to work in the military and military support services/industry.

Note; CorpoRAT goal - Power/control/profits

Note; conquest is a costly business. CorpoRATions like - Why(?) - money to supply the war effort - money to be made in conflict areas = rebuilding, rearming, access to cheap resources

Is there enough money in the Caymen Islands to pay off our debt's ?

That's where we should send our military !

What you think ?

Something like 30 trillion or so is rumored to be hoarded off shore.

I was thinking it would be more economical just to EMP it out of existance as I seriously doubt that there is actual items of value on hand there to back up the electronic.

if only they'd fund infrastructure and create jobs that way. Or farmland/hydoponic towers to make communities more self sustainable. Public transportation that isn't dependent on oil.

Then there wouldn't be resource wars.

Yep - the losers in war are always the civilians ( non-corpoRAT civilians ).

Funny thing is - that peace could be very prosperous for all - just like green tech can be as well - we just have some ( too many ) screwed up individuals with to much money and power who do not see it.

Do you want the sexual version or do you want my honest opinion? Actually this forum could use some creative fun. We should look at the freeky, strange and sexual reasons for war....

[-] 2 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

Okay, I'm drunk. I don't know nothin. But, consider... why do US leaders want to rape other nations?

I'm just saying... Well the other thing is we have Leaders that feel they are superior ... they are superior in many ways ... they set the price of comodoties ... they set the price of corn ... they set the price of wheat ... they set the price of food, water, energy, represenation, bread, and gasoline.

Wow I sent some email last night after drinking vodka. At least I don't have to be embarassed about this string. Yep, there is something that makes you feel dirty when you see career politicians on camera or giving a speach.

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

BTW - sent off some embarrassing e-mails? Or just heartfelt.

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Yep - watching em look into the camera and tell blatant lies - and smile good naturedly - as they just announced that the use of Drones was precision killing of terrorists and unintended casualties ( unintended? ) of civilians was accidental. Or tell us that the country needs fossil fuel desperately for domestic energy production - while the fossil fuel industry is actually exporting .... or or or or or or

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

Yeah, we are exporting refined oil. And the prices never came down either. And watch when corporations whine for some thing. You know they get some thing in a deal they just won the lottery.

I saw where a hedge fund, think it ws Blackrock, bought up an Oil Tanker company, then asked the federal government to guarentee them low interest rate loans for the financing the is needed to provide the customer or provide for the oil purchase or provide for financing the trip (sea voyage) .... At a time when there is a world glut of Oil Tankers and Business is down 2012. In fact in 2009 I think they were using oil tankers as storage for oil since business was down after the global meltdown.

Can you imagine going to a bank to buy a business after the industry melted? And then they want Uncle Sugar to Finance all their operations? What? I'd love that kind of deal No risk. Just hold the Tankers for 5 years or till global economy picks up. Oh and if you have big clout, you sign exclusive contracts for the long term to make sure business keeps coming. But a Hedge fund probably like any big bank can use the Tankers for its own companies and business interest.

Yeah, and the politican stands up there and says we will bail out the Banks with no strings, and even pay the banks to manage the money and their own bailout.

All wars are about natural resourses, nothing else.

I was not aware of lessons in form of question but just simple minded nobody is what I am. I do however know the answer to the question posed and that depends on each country. I am WE and shall answer for the USA. As of today that is NEVER enough talk of these kind we are of peace and do we need it, same answer.

Stormtroopers at the ready.

I've had feedback from active servicemen and women who are waking up to their unimportance factor in these corporate greed-based invasions. They are irradiated with DU, used as guinea-pigs for drug and "innoculation" tests, and tossed by the wayside after losing limbs/their minds/ability to funcion in society, after returning from the horrors of active duty.

This is why there are so many privateer mercenaries now, along with Mujahideen and Al Qaeda "rebel forces" working for the 0.01% who foment all these illegal invasions.

Where the phukk is the UN on these international crimes against humanity?

Where is the Hague, and the Geneva convention, when we all know that illegal invasions are happening, and now drone strikes against allied civilians are okayed by the commander-in-chief alone?

If ever there was a visual descriptor for hypocrisy, it would be the current admin.

Yep - makes one wonder - Hey?

[-] 1 points by NVPHIL (664) 11 years ago

Populations at war are also more willing to accept restrictions on freedoms.

[-] 0 points by DeathsHead1 (-111) 11 years ago

Do you really think its been any different at anytime in history?

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Stupid question - you did read the post?

[-] 0 points by DeathsHead1 (-111) 11 years ago

Yes I did. And your answer to my question?

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

War has never been different - just the available technology. Acquisition for country or for business has always been the driving force. Today though - some are saying they are doing it in the name of peace - they really mean in the name of piece - their piece.

[-] 0 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

Like most statements, this holds true for some conflicts, but not all conflicts, and therefore cannot fit into the neat little theory

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Right Right to the Left Right Left.......huh really?

[-] 0 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

Kuwait 1990, Nazi Germany, Mexican-American War and others fit your theory. I do not entirely see how this theory applies to, say, Northern Mali, the Falklands War in 1982, Ethiopia-Eritrea conflict in 1998-99.

Hmmmm anyone up on the number of enlistments for the armed services lately?

[-] 2 points by freehorseman (267) from Miles City, Mt 11 years ago

I would call it an economic draft not enlistment. And no.

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Well I was just thinking that filling out the ranks would not be a problem - when those enlisting could not get work otherwise.

[-] 1 points by freehorseman (267) from Miles City, Mt 11 years ago

It is one of the few well paying jobs with bennies still around that is always looking for new meat,I mean help.

Of the number of people living in the colonies,1/3 were royalists, 1/3 were apathetic . Only 1/3 supported and fought for independence from Great Britain. Clearly , non of the above reasons cited for war apply to the American war for independence.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

No? Really? England was not interested in resources to be found here? So they just left the people alone and went elsewhere . . . hmmm . . . wait a sec . . . that didn't happen

[-] -2 points by auargent (-600) 11 years ago

The American war for independence was not started by the British.
