An estimated 1.3 million workers in New York City lack a single day of paid sick leave. When they or their children get sick, they have two choices: Risk losing their job, or go to work sick or send their children to school sick, and spread whatever they have to everyone else.
The Paid Sick Time Act, which would guarantee all New Yorkers 5 to 9 paid sick days and would allow all workers to use their days when a child is ill, has the support of 80% of New Yorkers and a majority of the city council.
But New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has single-handedly blocked this bill from even coming up for a vote. So, we've created a petition to Speaker Quinn on SignOn.org, which says:
Stop blocking the Paid Sick Time Act. New Yorkers need time off when they or or their children are sick.

I got your email yesterday, and I signed it this morning. Thanks.
Quinn needs to be called out too.
