What would it Take?
I have a simple question that I would really like answered. A few weeks ago in the middle of the night, a question came to mind that I can’t let go. The American economy is in tough shape right now, how tough is debatable, however I think most would agree times are difficult to navigate. It’s my belief that our only turnaround is to lower the unemployment rate across the nation ie. creating more jobs. Everyday I read or hear politicians, economists, etc., with general solutions to the the problem, but most don’t seem to have real answers. Many US corporations are producing, manufacturing, and servicing products and goods overseas. I believe in a capitalist society. United States corporations have the right to make these decisions for the betterment of profit margins and stock holders, however we as a nation also have the right to compete for the business as well.
So here’s my question.
What would it take to bring manufacturing, production, and servicing of US products and goods back home?
Whether it’s lowering of corporate tax rates, tax credits, government subsidies, changes in policy, etc., I would like to have the answer, as I feel many Americans would. Once the answers are available then I feel we can debate what we as a nation are comfortable with.
The answer can only come from corporations themselves. I love my iPhone, however if I ask Apple what it would take to produce Apple products in the US my voice is too small. The only way we can start these discussions and get action is to get a bigger voice. I honestly believe that the more support we can get, the more we can be heard. The more we’re heard, the greater the chance will be of getting real answers, good or bad. Please help me get a bigger voice.
What would it take? Tariffs or other trade barriers. Same thing that protected US jobs and industry from 1792 till the mid seventies. http://economyincrisis.org/
You speak everyday with your dollar. If you buy apple, you support outsourcing (half of their eng staff is in the philipines). Take some personal responsibility and pain. Talking in loud voice and occupying communal land is meaningless if your padding the corps wallet. They're only to happy to rebuild whatever you burn.....
Personal responsibility is the way forward. Vote with your dollar er'day!!!
If we can't stop automation, can we stop outsourcing. Help me get the answers. Make congress ask corporations and make corporations answer.
More jobs have been lost to automation than to outsourcing. Even Foxconn, the Taiwanese company that make a lot of Apple products is starting to automate in China. Check this thread out:

A lot of businesses have left the USA because they can't make enough money here. One reason is that unions have priced themselves out of many industies with their greed.
They keep wanting more and more money and benefits without regard to the effects. They don't care about the country, the business, other workers, nothing. All they want is to get as much money as they can.
If you tell a union that they will be out of a job in the future if they keep up with their demands upon a company, they won't give a crap. They'll take the money and worry about the future later.
When the business goes overseas, they start crying like babies that it isn't fair. Govt unions are doing the same to this country. With their outrageous demands they are ripping this country apart.
I don't know when this started, that private citizens would pay the pensions and health care for govt workers, but it's the reason this country is where it is now.
Can just ONE person tell me why a teacher, cop, etc. should get their pension and health care paid for by taxpayers who are already paying a fortune for their OWN pensions and health care? Are they a better class of people than we are?
These days, the public sector unions are getting paid much more than the private sector equivalent jobs whose workers are paying for the public sector pensions and health care. They should be paying their own way and until that happens, we can't fix this country.
Why can't public sector unions pay their own pension and health care? Not part of it, ALL of it like we do.
I asked this question many times and have NEVER gotten a sensible answer for it.
We need to get back to ONE CLASS in this country where all people are treated equally whether they work for the govt or the private sector.
When Union guys wanted a robot to help them put lug nuts on a tire, it was all over. The unions have cause the most problems.
