Who is going to pay for all the damage, the police over time etc? Do you have a plan for that? What about the business that are closing because of your protest? Who is going to compensate the people that lost their jobs and the small business owners that are now gone? The income lost from the port in Oakland and the workers that were not paid their hourly wage while the port was closed. WTF?
Taxes pay for essential services of cops. I think it would be good if people became salaried workers instead of hourly workers, then when something happens, they would still get paid, well at least in theory anyway.
Is that a serious response to my questions? Answer the questions please.
It was a nice way to say the taxpayers will have to foot the bill as the salaries come out of tax revenues.
I think the protests should take care not to effect small businesses or any business where people are working. Everyone has a right to try to earn a living. Change on the corporate level will not happen by disrupting the entrance to a building or store front.
It is difficult to hold protest marches though that do not impact businessess in cities, because businesses are always open.
I don't like what happened in Oakland, nobody asked the port workers if they agreed to it and joined in with the action, so to just unleash a mob of people to stop the activities of the port is only creating animosity of people in the city and the workers. It does not create unity or foster confidence in a movement that wants to be known for working for peaceful change.
henry, those are problems for adults. That's why.
You have to remember that as much as the protestor hate the "1%" they expect them to do a shit load for them once this is all over including picking up thier tab
