Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukkah.
Also, here is looking to a better years in 2012! Peace.
Same to you :-)
Thank you.
I think placing Kwanzaa alongside Christmas and Hannukah is ridiculous. If it was a genuine, long standing tradition of Africa that fell around this time of year I'd say knock yourself out, but the fact is, 'Kwanzaa' is just a silly vestige of some of the weirder aspects of the late 60s Black Power movement. It was invented in 1966 as a 'back nationalist alternative' to Christmas. The word 'Kwanzaa' itself isn't even a real African word, it's a neologism inspired by part of a Swahili expression that very roughly translates into "first fruits". It reflects the ignorance at the time of genuine African culture by Kwanzaa's creator, Ron Karenga. It's sort of a 'Festivus' for black nationalists. Celebrate it if you like, but pretending it's on a par with Christmas or Hannukah comes across as either ignorant or as PC pandering.
