Forum Post: Gun Edicts Put Personal Liberty Under Fire

Where is the liberal outrage? Where is the liberal suspicion about powerful, unchecked governments? Where is the liberal unflinching devotion to individual liberty?

We have a president who has radically reshaped the landscape of American government so that it is more of a behemoth than at any time in history and more involved in every aspect of our lives. It is also more unanswerable than ever before.

Now this president is issuing 23 new edicts aimed at curbing individuals’ gun rights. At the same time, his federal agencies are stockpiling more and more weapons and ammunition.

And for what, exactly? To go hunting? To shoot the Chinese when they come to collect their debts? To shoot Mexicans tumbling over the Southern border? To shoot the Canadians?

What does the Department of “Homeland Security” suddenly need 1.4 billion more rounds of ammunition at the very point the same government is making it harder for citizens to arm themselves?

There are only 300 million of us. How many bullets do you need? That’s more than four bullets for every American man, woman and child. Is your aim really that bad? I mean, have you seen us lately? We are too fat to run very far.

You can say these concerns are some sort of Alex Jones, wack-nut, black helicopter paranoia or you can simply ask, “Why does the government need a billion more rounds of ammo just as it is trying to disarm citizens?”

And the lists. The lists of people who are deemed too mentally unstable to own a gun.

A principled liberal would be horrified at the notion that the government is going to keep giant lists of people who are criminals or who are deemed crazy or dangerous. And even more breathtaking is that these lists will be used to determine the degree of freedom those individuals will be granted by the government.

Do you remember the liberal outrage over the huge government list to keep people deemed dangerous from flying on airplanes? Ted Kennedy is turning over in his grave.

Yes, I remember when Cat Stevens ( OF ALL PEOPLE!) was deemed a terrorist and snagged at the London airport. This is what really concerns me. I realize everyone is reacting to the frequency of mass shootings but I think we are avoiding the real issue. I've said this before and I'll say it again. Social scientists, behavioral scientists need to be working with schools and communities to reduce violence and create a less violent culture-- not NRA and psychologists and others who have a vested interest in profiting from outcomes.

Music in class rooms even at low volume I think would be a nice addition to the atmosphere.

The Music room - a favorite place of mine - and hearing the music echoing down the hallway was nice. {:-]) Good memory - thanks for recalling it for me.

It just bends my skull that music and Art took a nose dive out the door of our school's budgets.

Every Parent got their Kids WiFis' ... could any of them contribute to the school for those programs? No...

Creativity is spurred by the spirit is fed by music and such activities. Insanity to remove it from schools.

Feed the spirit People - how else does society rise instead of falling to depression?

Are you saying we are exporting Violence, war, guns, Major Weapons systems, Fighter Planes, Tanks, training for military soldiers and police, and supporting questionable foregin leaders with aid & loans....

While at home we are taking away gun rights, individual rights, privacy rights, tapping phones, checking emails, militarizing our police, Creating a Huge Agency to police and track our citzens, discourage democratic protests & Political Grassroots Organizations, and discourage third party candidates and political participation, while allowing oligopolies to proliferate and even take over our education from our MSM media.

Oh yeah, and they never mention the US made weapons in wars all around the world. They still have Land Mines exploding in Laos and Cambodia that are US Made.... never hear President Obama offering to send demining teams from our military to Laos and Cambodia .... never hear him limit the use of weapons or Weapons of Mass destruction in war or in US Military.

1) Ban Drones that Drop Bombs or shoot Missiles.
2) Ban Cluster Bombs or Smart Bombs in civilian areas.
3) Ban US wars against anyone other than a Government & their Military.
4) Ban undeclared wars...anything done by a president is undeclared.
5) All wars should be declared by Congress in full votes.
6) Allow a few small teams of Special Forces to plant bombs on military or infrastructure targets only monthly or if we have big trouble with terrorists kidnapping or committing crimes against innocents.
7) Ban war against Terrorists or Guerillas since by definition they will hide amoung the civilian population to get away.
8) Designate Terrorist under the domain of FBI or Police for resolution and prosecution not for assassination.
9) Ban Presidential Kill Lists.
. Disolve DHS since we have ICE, Border Patrol, Police, NSA, FBI, Coast Guard, and many others already.

Good comment Nevada ( west ).

It is time and long past time that government was dragged forcibly back to a state of sanity - by The People for whom it is supposed to serve.

PEOPLE get involved - sanity - fundamental change for the better - WILL NOT HAPPEN WITHOUT YOU. Stand-up Speak-out.

The lack of outrage is truly predictable. Obama can do wrong it seems.

We have another 4 years to find out how much more Government corruption and power/freedom grabs will fly under Liberals radar simple because Obama is Liberal and black.

Once again deluded liberals are playing the useful fool. (I'm a liberal but not deluded.)

Liberals have proven themselves to be next to worthless (I am no longer a 60s liberal but I do consider myself an FDR liberal).

They couldn't hit the streets to defend Gore's win in 2000. I was on the streets, I wondered where everyone else was.

They can't look truth in the eye and recognize the 9/11 governmental false flag.

They only fight backing up. They are antiwar, but can't undercut the wars' raison d'etre, because refuse to recognize the War-on-terror as a post 9/11 fraud. They are against TSA gropers, but can't point out that the fear is groudless for the same reason.

And now with the curtain of tyranny descending across the land they again prove their worthlessness.
