Forum Post: Green Friday instead of Black Friday, Nov 25, 2011

Instead of feeding into massive corporate greed on Black Friday, supporters of Occupy Wall Street should support Green Friday. On November 25, 2011, Occupy Wall Street and allies should eschew the standard consumerist rush to big box stores and support the following:

  • shop local producers for gifts, food and other goods;
  • donate to local charities in need;
  • educate their fellow citizens about the principles of OWS;
  • avoid corporate mainstream media--read a book instead;
  • support peer-to-peer sales via garage sales, Craig's List classifieds, etc.

Purchase within your communities! Buy used, buy local, give to those who need it, or don't buy gifts at all on BLACK FRIDAY!!!
