I believe in the good unions have done for the common worker.
Unions have made many strides forward for the health and prosperity for ALL - even the non-union workers.
The rights that unions have struggled for are rights that all workers should have.
A living Wage.
Access to and ability to afford good health care.
A workplace condition that is not detrimental to the worker.
A work week that does not separate one from life or family.
Cooperation and support to continue growing as business technology grows.
The ability to own a home.
The ability to save money.
All this and more should be every workers right.
That being said.
In this country - founded on the principles of Democracy - with the recognition that every person was created equal - with the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Unions should not be necessary.
With a government of by & for the people - there should be no strife between classes.
With a government truly working for the people public and private employees should receive the same treatment and considerations.
This is what this forum is about or should be about in my opinion.
Educating the people - educating the government.
Uniting all in outreach education and the sharing of awareness.
We need to all work together for a healthy and prosperous world for ALL.
This will take effort and dedication as the system as it is currently run will fight the change even though it is good for all.
Find and support all of the Bernie Sanders ( male/female ) of the world - people who believe in people and get them into office.
Does not matter what social system you live in if it does not support the people it will fail - fast or slow - from within or from without or both - the society will fail.
Unite and together we can have a healthy world - for ALL.
Thank you DKA, for this. It says so much.
Hey Nevada1 - I keep trying to find a proper and good and complete way to describe where we are - and what needs to be done.
Thanks.
The National Campaign to End Corporate Personhood and Demand Democracy! Move to Amend
Dear Dan,
Minneapolis and Saint Paul City Councils Pass Resolutions
On June 13, 2012, the Saint Paul City Council unanimously passed a Move to Amend inspired resolution opposing corporate personhood. Click here to see the video of the vote or here to see the video of the speakers. The Pioneer Press and Union Advocate also have in depth article.
If you are in the Saint Paul area, please join us for our next Saint Paul Area Move to Amend meeting on June 24 at Forepaugh’s near downtown.
Two days later on June 15, the Minneapolis City Council also passed our resolution with unanimous support. These votes contributed to a national “Resolutions week” organized by Move to Amend (MTA).
Across Minnesota, MTA volunteers have been door knocking, phone banking, highway banner holding, attending organizer meetings, walking in parades, and meeting with local elected officials on City Councils and in the State Legislature. None of our work occurs in isolation. Move to Amend efforts in Grand Rapids and Duluth have facilitated efforts in Saint Paul and Minneapolis and vice versa.
Move to Amend is proud to have strong affiliate groups in Duluth, Grand Rapids, Saint Paul, and Minneapolis. In late December 2011, the Duluth Area Move to Amend organized “end corporate personhood” events and rallies. At one MTA event, Duluth City Council Member, Sharla Gardner spoke. In her speech, she announced her intention to introduce the Move to Amend Resolution at the Duluth City Council. That vote occurred and passed on December 30, 2011. After that vote, Move to Amend Statewide Organizer, Nathan Ness approached Councilor David Thune to introduce the same resolution in the Saint Paul City Council. Thune made early outreach calls to Members of the Minneapolis City Council. Move to Amend works as a team in Minnesota. Each part of the body contributes to the whole.
“It is inspiring to see the domino effect here,” said Move to Amend, MN Statewide Organizer Nathan Ness. “First we got our resolution passed in the Duluth City Council, then Saint Paul and now our resolution has passed in the Minneapolis City Council.” There is positive momentum building in Edina, Roseville, and other Minnesota cities. Move to Amend volunteers are great organizers and they will be known as leaders in opposition to corporate personhood. In Minnesota, when we say ‘We the people’, we don’t mean corporations, non-profits, or unions, we mean the people. To quote MTA National Spokesperson David Cobb, “If you have a belly button, you’re a person”.
Despite our success, this is no time to rest on our laurels. Let’s keep up the momentum and pass resolutions in every town and city in Minnesota. If you are ready to introduce a resolution or form an affiliate, contact Nathan Ness for guidance.

We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.

No strife between the classes? You have got to be kidding me. If you are considered the left in this country it is doomed.
What are you considered ? Besides at times annoying? Downer? Nay-sayer?
Just what exactly are you supposed to represent?
This may be the all time biggest bullshit post I have ever seen on here.
You have no dreams?
You have no Goals?
How do you expect to move forward make progress with nothing to fuel your desire.
You seem a pretty odd duck from what I have seen of your comments.
Unions had problems but look how business was before them or even where their not in some cases. We need em.
Yes we do until we can get government on track and working - really working for the People - at which time unions should not be necessary.
A dream at this point in time - I know - but one must have dreams/goals or one tends not to go anywhere.
