I think it is ridiculous that the American public can watch performers on TV and instantly vote on who we think is the best, but when it comes to the real issues in this country we have to rely on the corrupt politicians we were forced to elect to represent our views.
Government need to change! When the only method of communicating our thoughts to elected officials was by mail or horseback, it was important to have elected officials in Washington to represent our thoughts. However, with today’s technology, the American people should be able to hear all sides of every issue and then vote on it instantly. Then the elected politicians would work to see that our majority decision is implemented, regardless of their personal thoughts, beliefs and interests.
And... Republican or Democrat - Who the hell really supports each and every position of either side? I support some of both.
No, you don't get it. We must set up tents in parks and cry about Wall Street. That will fix the world. Ok, sarcasm aside, you are right, but OWS has neither the discipline nor drive to go to DC in any real numbers and that is why it is already a failed movement.
You want change, you need dollars. Something OWS doesn't have and they don't wanna give up. We can't use tech to vote. It has to be the "old fashioned" way. If you look into how easy it would be to electronically sway anything, you would see why it is the way it is. Instant voting is not good either. If you're have an off day, you may go one way instead of if you weren't.
