With the battle cry “To Big To Fail” do you think Washington, Wall Street and the City of New York will in any way other than lip service respond to a “peaceful” demonstration. As soon as crowds reach a point of disrupting city services and business as usual the demonstration will be shut down. I'm sure those that have turned out to Occupy Wall Street have good reason, but they all seem to be mostly young people who have suffered the least and have the least vested interest. Although I do not know what is worse, a future lost or a future stolen! The movement should encouraging participation from middle class middle aged people that have lost their jobs, homes, savings and retirement. And who have been or are about to be put out onto the street. When it comes to government and business there is no ethics or guilt.
The uprising at Tahrir Square in Egypt was in my estimation very peaceful, but was portray as nearly a massacre by our media (CNN)! imagine If a demonstration like that took place in Washington DC. Imagine if access to the Capitol, White House and most of the government office buildings were blocked. do you think the demonstration would continue to remain peaceful under those circumstances, how long would it take for our “Free Society” to become a dictatorship?
obvious provocateur is obvious
True, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategic Legal Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

You need to think on a grander scale. Most of OWS demands are Obama talking points. He and his pals want an illusion of a majority uprising begging for his Marxist values. This convinces the other sheep to think this is in their best interest. It's propaganda but it works....Small cities shut them down? It creates the illusion of partisan politicians trying to oppress the people. It allows Obama to stand up and "defend" them. Class warfare is very populist and Obama was elected on popularity instead of any kind of experience or wisdom.
Trust me, most Americans don't want to be occupied by Wall Street or these Marxists. Once OWS true demands are known by the real majority they will resist.....
tax cuts for middle class modernize roads and bridges invest in middle class not banking class by raising minimum wage thats the oocupy wall sreet message
so if that's all this is about I should just vote for Obama next election right? So to hell with all the other bull shit going on right. I thought this thing was about change!
ows from start has been democratic and all republicans do nothing but demonize the movement read the signs listen to the people and see tax rich get money out of politics end wars have never been backed by republicans tax cuts for middle class modernize roads and bridges invest in middle class not banking class by raising minimum wage thats the oocupy wall sreet message
I have suffered an immense amount but I won't go into that. If you don't understand what's going on here then just ask questions.... I think a good model for this movement would be the Freedom Riders of the 1960s, they were very peaceful and non-aggressive and they were able to achieve quite a lot in doing so.
The corruption is so embedded and wide spread in our system that just bringing it to the public's attention isn't enough. The freedom Riders pulled the mask from the bad guys, revealing the injustice that was going on. But in this situation the law seems to protect the bad guys, and I don't see how you get past that, leaders will not change laws that are in their favor!
I understand... but we need to find non-violent ways of dealing with this situation. And there are good choices for that, we just need to explore them. Here is a very good video with some ideas about how to proceed non-violently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXdmNFNqaQc
"...young people who have suffered the least."
Who the hell are you to assume the amount of suffering we have undergone is minimal?
IMO you're just another negativity troll :(
I worked in advertising for 24 years. Two years ago I lost my job because the fortune 10 company I had worked for (with the help of our government) decided that it was cheaper to hire a company in India to do my work for me. Luckily I was in a union and managed to salvage what was left of my pension, but my investment portfolio was reduced by 50%. now I'm living on my retirement savings that I wasn't planning on using for another 10 years. I have a mortgage, and all the bills associated with home ownership and local taxes in the thousands with no jobs locally available over $9 an hour. So you tell me have I been S_it on enough or what?
I am a retired scientist in full sympathy with the occupy movement. You don't have to be unemployed or personally suffering to recognize that there is something immoral about the way corporations have commandeered our government.
I absolutely agree!
Good thing the Tunisians, Egyptians, etc. did not wait for an OK from you!
Not to mention the Patriots of 1776.
The turn out numbers do not back your statement!
History teaches us that the greatest revolutions start with "an Abrahamic minority".
Gandhi constituted a MINORITY OF ONE when he conceived of non-violent confrontation with "the Empire on which the sun never rests". The short, painfully shy, bespectacled man looked like a born loser. Probably some people wondered if he was some sort of pot-smoking hippie???
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."(Mahatma Gandhi)
God bless Gandhi! God bless Martin Luther King! God bless America and her brave defenders, the Patriots of Occupy Wall Street!
It is narrow minds like this that have made revolution (not occupying Wall Street) a necessity!
You Corporate hypocrites really need to stay off this forum!! If you are that afraid...leave and go to yur hidden bunkers!!!
Ok Occupying Wall Street, once again you've been acknoledged, now what tell me your plans? once again you've been acknoledged, once again you've been acknoledged, once again you've been acknoledged, once again you've been acknoledged, once again you've been acknoledged, once again you've been acknoledged, once again you've been acknoledged, once again you've been acknoledged,
By talking to the people who disagree with us we have an opportunity to change their minds and their hearts and that is a very important thing. If we can respond positively and without aggression to people who disagree with us, we will have made an impression and perhaps that will aid in a change in their perspective over time. By making this or that group into "bad" people, we're really doing ourselves a disservice ultimately. We all are interconnected even if the way in which we are connected is not completely apparent. The only way to change people's minds and hearts is to keep talking to them and be respectful and logical while doing so.
I totally understand the frustration that comes from trying to communicate with someone who is presenting a different message aggressively and with hate. I realize it is very difficult to have a discussion with someone who is coming at you in a negative way. But keep that in mind when you talk to others... people won't hear the message if it's presented in a negative way with name-calling or belittling. If other people want to waste their energy by being hateful then that is their problem, I feel it is our duty to respond respectfully in all instances and continue to drive home our message and raise awareness. Let's take some of the emotionality out of it, stick to logic and facts, and not become over-reactive when discussing things with anyone. Talking to others about ideas is very important no matter how they seem to respond. Just hearning a different view can open someone's mind even when they are being close-minded.
