The GA should decide on a indoor space. Move there before it starts to get really cold. The ideal space would be a large gymnasium. Another good idea is to start a "real" Congress in this space. Where people could vote on proposals and draft some legislation. Get out of the cold! Also "phase 2" of the occupation should begin, get all the Occupy movements throughout the states to transport themselves to their respective statehouses (e.g. Wall Street goes to Albany, Occupy Philly goes to Harrisburg, etc) and from there we implement the Call for a Convention(s) I haven't thought out the transition details (that can be worked on by the GA) but after Phase 2, (cue epic music) the gauntlet will be thrown. The real advantage in doing a "Real Congress" is twofold 1. You can say we are the true representatives of America and 2. It's not cold indoors! See, you get the symbolic advantage AND the practical advantage of not freezing!

Why not spend the winter at Valley Forge -- would make a great historic parallel?

well would shouldn't do things just for symbolisms sake, the real advantage in doing a "Real Congress" is twofold 1. You can say we are the true representatives of America and 2. It's not cold indoors! See you get the symbolic advantage AND the practical advantage of not freezing!

Please stay. NY weather should be forgiving.

maybe for a little while but it's going to get cold eventually

Ron Paul!

I am totally behind the idea of Occupiers creating their own Congress, their own government--especially one with the intent of using it to replace the old one.

But I have to say that I think OWS, and Occupy demonstrations around the globe, need to stay through the winter. If they go hide from the cold they will be shown as cowards afraid to suffer for their cause.

What doesn't kill us will make us stronger.

Until it does kill you.

No one lives forever. Better to leave behind a better world than leave behind none.

[-] 1 points by booshington (397) 13 years ago

Nobody can see you when you're inside.

Seriously what kind of half-assed protest happens indoor because it's cold out.

[-] 0 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

It's better if it transitions from a protest to a movement!

[-] 1 points by bakerjohnj (121) 13 years ago

A movement of the people it is.

YES.

[-] 1 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

exactly, now will someone go to the GA with this? lol

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

I'm going to the one in Miami. However, I personally know people at NYCGA. I will spread your idea like a disease, you have my word.

[-] 1 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

Ohhh Miami, your making me jealous with all the crappy weather here

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

I'm sorry. I truly am. I'd rather be there than here, so I guess it's a mutual feeling.

[-] 1 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

nah I'm just pulling your tail. No harm done

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

Dude I'm so gullible! :(

[-] 1 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

heheh, don't worry I'm not ill-willed

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

Faaaaaaaaaa Shooooooooooooooo.

[-] 1 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

oh gee, thank you lady! I'm just a guy trying to help you can take the credit :)

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

.............Notice how I said "your idea"......

I will not rebuke you for your assumption because I understand that most people in this world are greedy. However, my morals are my laws. I will not steal. Not even an idea. I will even make sure your real name goes on it, in case you would like to privately message that to me. I am not like those who hoard in the wealth because of a mental issue they got from the Great Depression.

I love you and respect you, even if I don't know you and even if you're about to kill me (that's how radical I am). I'd like for you to know that.

[-] 1 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

...whoa, I meant nothing like that, it's all cool. I'm just saying I'm just glad to contribute something. I don't know what to say to that miss, I guess just go down there and (metaphorically) Kick some ass down there in Miami. It's nice to see someone passionate as you

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

Oooohhhh.......>.>....Dude, I'm so sorry about that. I guess I misunderstood your words. But yeah I am that passionate. Lol. I guess now you know I'll never steal your idea?

[-] 1 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

Well to be honest as you, I don't care if I don't get credit. I just want the movement to succeed, in the most effective way possible. Plus you seem awesome enough to take the credit :)

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

I was just thinking the same thing today. And I'm sorry again for coming out of left field with that. I guess I'm still in full-on "fuck-a-troll-up" mode.

[-] 1 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

Beside's you sound like you know how to get shit done, so I think you'd do a better job than me. Have fun in Miami (and get some serious shit done, lol)!

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

Gracias!

[-] 1 points by constitutionalconvention (59) from Queens, NY 13 years ago

I see what you mean. I would actually go to Zucotti Park and start some stuff myself. But I have some annoyances at home that keep me from coming there.

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

Same. I would stay at OccupyMiami but I have things keeping me from going there. The next best thing is voicing the opinion.

Dude, it's been great talking with you. Take care of yourself. My nightly shift of DMT trips await.

di-methyl tryptamine?

It's not as cold in Washington, D.C. That's where we should be protesting anyway. Only the President and Congress can force the corporations to do the right thing. The corporations won't listen to us, but they'll listen to the Congress when it looks like laws are going to be passed that affect them. Occupy The White House !!! ................ ........................ http://www.savethe99.com/default.htm

A better way is to Occupy the State House(s) to Call a Convention
