“A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
- Albert Einstein
he was such a wonderful man, well they both were. gandhi also said that you must BE the change you wish to see in the world.
I just watch the movie Gandhi. Spectacular. Inspiring. You can almost hear what he might be saying right about now.
I love compassion in the realest sense...but this is about encouraging (demanding?) that our political leaders try, just for a moment, to live the life we've imagined, the one Einstein is describing here....a human life, a decent, egalitarian one...So, I say SPEAK, all you can, until they listen for long enough to change their wicked ways. One love.
Isn't that exactly what Gandhi did?
fair enough.....
I bought the Dalai Lama a cup of coffee once. That was pretty cool.
That's awesome!!
