Hi All,
I really believe in Gandhian non-violence as a means to reach peaceful ends. I have been greatly encouraged to see the non-violent approach of OWS, although some of the videos on the livestream do show violence by protesters (in other countries), which I think is a mistake.
The core of Gandhi's approach is to love and respect everyone, including your adversaries. To fight for right coming from a place of Love, instead of coming from a place of anger or condemnation.
It rests on the idea that there is only One Reality - call it God, Reality, all that is, the Force (or whatever name you like) - and that we are all part of it. Our true Self exists far beyond the boundry of our skin.
I think that if OWS committed to this approach, it could:
Attract people of all backgrounds to a 100% peaceful movement.
Make any violent attacks on the movement unjustifiable and unpopular.
Sooner or later, it changes people's hearts - this was a key part of Gandhi's approach.
If anyone else is interested in this, please reply.
Peace,
Gandhi Lives
U b correct.
Completely agree. It really works! And there's nothing wimpy about it. It's forceful. Please see these two posts about this if you have time: https://occupywallst.org/forum/how-we-win/ AND https://occupywallst.org/forum/love-is-the-high-octane-fuel-that-will-propel-this/
