Let's not waste time and energy responding to obvious provocaturs.

It's important to respond and have a discussion with everyone. How else will we promote change or a different way of thinking if we don't engage with people in conversation? And if some people are going to behave badly then we need to remain peaceable and rational even if they're putting us down. If we get over-emotional or over-reactive in how we respond to provocaturs then our message will not be heard properly.

Agreed. Replying with reason is not a bad use of anyone's time here.

Arguing with irrational people, no matter how sound your reasoning is, will almost never work. Let the racist/hatespreading threads go off to die where they belong. Keep up intelligent discussion, that's the only thing that will save this movement from looking like a bunch of angry children.

It may not work in the short-term but if we can respond positively and without aggression, we will have made an impression and perhaps that will aid in a change in perspective over time. By making this or that group into "bad" people, we're really doing ourselves a disservice ultimately. We all are interconnected even if the way in which we are connected is not completely apparent. The only way to change people's minds and hearts is to keep talking to them.

That is a valid point. I hadn't thought about it that way, exactly. Thanks. I just hope you have a strong stomach!

Well, I'll do what I can but luckily there are a lot of other people here to take up the slack when I need a break ;)
