While I appreciate feelings of solidarity from folks on the other side of the pond, I came to realize that more than half the people in the chat last night were not even US citizens(1 Canadian, 2 Brits, a couple Europeans).
I have to say it gave me a very uneasy feeling listening to these people talk about the need for a revolution. One in particular was an overt holocaust denying Jew hater, telling everyone how the revolution is inevitable and unstoppable.
I see the OWS movement as an opportunity for Americans to express that they are fed up because they feel their leaders have sold out to special interests. When I see foreign nationals arriving in large numbers to talk about ending the US as we know it, I suddenly feel how John Kerry must have felt when he found himself sitting in a meeting with folks talking about killing US senators.
Call it nationalistic, but I imagine I'm not the only one thinking it.
