Forum Post: For the first time, I am ashamed to have been a part of this movement.

I have fought. Hard. I have worked tireless hours, and educated people on the movement, and vowed to defend OWS to the grave if necessary. I have put everything on the line for the idea of democracy, respect, the Constitution, free speech, peace, protest, and another world that I dreamed was possible.

However, the longer I am involved, the more disgusted I become. When it was violence, I was able to argue that they were a small faction, when it was that there was no real message, I was able to convince people to give it a minute since the movement was in its infancy. I helped form working groups, and ideas, and became an educated voice for the media. I have given my all. But for what?

For the same sort of elitist bullshit that the 1% has. Censorship. Dictatorship. Hate. Violence. Corruption. It is ridiculous.

I am not a supporter of RonPaul. I cannot support someone who would remove the Civil Rights Act, and public school funding. However, I also cannot support OWS, if they censor people who DO like RonPaul if they type his name correctly (Ron Lawl). This is outrageous, and is the beginning of the end of this movement.

Even though I'm sure this will be censored too, know that you creating your own destruction.

They are trying to stay apolitical... you cant do that when your entire board is filled with RonPaul posts, so to discourage it they changed the name.... start posting an obscene amount about the other candidates and watch it happen. There is a difference between mentioning a candidate and a mass explosion of his ideas on the forum.

IMO it was a much better decision to change the name, rather than down right delete all the posts.

It's not a libertarian vs. progressive movement. It's a working class vs. upper class movement. Just as the tea party Knows The RNC doesn't effectively represent their values; the OWS knows that the DNC will not effectively represent their values. Just because this movement is not largely comprised of people who agree with your ideals doesn't mean that we don't have some common ground.

The reason for the Ron Paul censorship is because during the first two weeks of this website being up every two or three posts was a 'Vote for Ron Paul' post. At the risk of appearing to endorse him, they had to censor him. That's why no other politicians have been censored.

I think it's safe to say that the overwhelming majority of OWS supporters believe in freedom of speech but I can understand where the moderators are coming from. Many others have also questioned the RP censorship. That said I think it would be sad to have people leave such a potentially important movement for something relatively minor. It's just an internet forum after all.

I guess what frustrates me is the fact that corruption is even happening from within. It's just a bummer.

However, I will continue to fight. Even if it means that I must fight the corruption on the inside as well.

R.P. is a quack. If all 50 states could just do their own thing it would be Chaos. With no uniformity in rules and regulations it would very difficult to do business in the US on a national scale. What would create jobs would be all the people needed to keep 50 separate government entities happy. Imagine

It just seems to me that as a facilitator you would appreciate the problems facilitators are apt to encounter, spamming by ron LAUL supporters being one of them. If you check, I'm sure you will be able to establish rather quickly that his grassroots supporters are just a few poles shy of a teepee.

We absolutely have RonPaul spammers. I get it. But we haven't censored our spammers or trolls out of respect for free speech. Minus one- there was a fake Facebook account who was lying to people and saying that our camp moved, and all sorts of things.. he got waaaayyy out of hand with confusing new people, and so I blocked him.

But we have a few resident RonPaul psychos who litter every post with RonPaul info, but oh well. He's allowed to say what he wants, you know?

Yes he would. He wants to eliminate all Federal Laws, and let states vote for them on their own, and Rand Paul says that a good start would be the Civil Rights Act. Well, I live in the south, and that is a really stupid idea.

Okay, let's break this down into idiot terms.. The Civil Rights Act, Roe vs Wade, Schools, etc. are all Federal Laws. Ron Lawl wants to take ALL of the power away from the Federal government, and let the states revote and decide their own things. That would mean that since it was not protected by the Federal Laws, then they could vote no and abolish those things.

I think that lynch mobs prove that democracy cannot be used for anything that involves war, murder, peace, violence, health, or the welfare of people. I think that equality and peace should be mandatory rules, and all else can be voted on- but not a person's worth or rights.

I live in the south, and I can promise you that if slavery were up for a revote, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama would revert 150 years overnight.

Yes young jedi. You are beginning to see. There will always be those to "rise to power" over others, and the smaller the group is-the more crushing the oppression is. (less backs to distribute it onto).

What has been brewing underneath OWS from the moment it began is not a powerful wave of freedom loving, patriotic, utopian desire...it is a powerful wave of corruption and control and iron-fisted vengence that wants only for OWS to "take down" the existing structure so it can rise to the top in it's place. And the nightmare involved in that process will most likely take you to your grave.
