Some of the attempted "lists of demands" that I have seen posted would only fragment this movement and distract it from the task at hand. Beware of those who would try to use this moment to insert sub-agendas that would actually harm the chances of accomplishing anything. There are some key items though, that can be used to teach the rest of America why this is important without actually generating a "demands list" at this early stage:
A. Excessive executive compensation. It would be useful to show people what CEOs at some companyies make as a percentage of what their workers make. Call the worst offenders out by name and ask them just what they did to "add value" to anything. If their only answer is "increase stock price", this is a teachable moment. Stock price seldom has anything to do anymore with providing a better product or service. It's more of a shell game. It is time for the American public of all parties and political persuasions to learn this awful truth.
B. Which of these companies were "bailed out" by the taxpayers?
C. Corporate boards could change this even without new laws and choose not to.
Government will not "fix" this because many of our Senators and Representatives now practically work for these companies. Direct pressure needs to be applied to the offending individuals (corporate boards and top management) in the offending companies.
