Greetings from the Great White North!
I fully support what OccupyWallStreet and the worldwide movement is attempting to do, and though the problems are not as severe, and the issues slightly different here in Canada we also need change.
But I have been troubled by the lack of awareness of the issues, and the vagueness of many protesters in various videos (though I have seen a great deal with very well educated, well spoken protesters as well through independent media), and it is most definitely a weapon that your enemies are using to try and criticize you, that you just don't understand how it works.
So, I was wondering, is it possible to find some like-minded economists/economics professors who could turn the site of your protests into an impromptu lecture hall, and give a brief Economics 101 course?
Just a suggestion.
Bon chance, mon ami!
That's a good point ARod, if a few of you with perhaps a basic understanding took a look at the more advanced free lectures available online, and then worked with the teachers (both trained and natural) to create a curriculum of sorts, you could do it on your own if you can't get any speakers.
Might be good to look at some Poli Sci courses as well, as the issue as I understand it, is not so much with the economy as it is the distribution of wealth which is a highly political issue.
I could talk to my old AP Micro/Macro teachers and see if they'd be willing to do something of that nature (or assist me in figuring out how to teach it), or I might just take it here at MIT in the next year or so and then reteach it based on that material.
