[backstory-- I'm homeless and have sporatic access to the net. A rain squall has kept me out of actin a couple days, right before which I was trying to post the following to a thread about the Fed Reserve (which asked for Left critiques of it) .. since it's fallen off the front page, I'll put this here. BTW my post failed because of all this stupid Google scripting on this site-- something that has always pissed me off about alternet actually-- they're freaking Big Brother and database all your information. You don't need them. See www.dontbubble.us please. (Nor does Apple respect your privacy, and the very worst is Facebook. www.youropenbook.org ..) .. and since I wrote what follows, I caught up on the most recent installment of Harry Shearer's Le Show, the best NPR show-- that's been banned from most NPR stations. An incisive look into the fiscal crisis. http://harryshearer.com/leshow !!!) see also recent Robert Reich media appearances, and definitely check out Prof. Michael Hudson who appears often on the indispensible Guns and Butter .. www.kpfa.org/archive/show/34 !!!) ]
Not sure whether to characterize the guy as Right or Left, but I was trying to remember which of my scads of progressive podcasts interviewed G. Edward Griffin, author of The Creature from Jekyll Island which details the inception of this horrid institution. Doing a search reminds me that he is indeed a popular guests among Rightists (i.e. Alex Jones, though Jones will on occasion insist he's anti-"Right/Left paradigm".. whatever.. note that you guys could listen to his 4-hours-daily talk show on shortwave on the ground there, and definitely flood him with call-ins calling him to task on Global Warming Denial and his indoctrination in Cold War Think as to socialism! Worthwhile because he DOES offer some good reporting about the assault on civil liberties and ever-increasing Police State.. I notice Jesse Ventura in another thread here.. a regular guest, another mixed bag-- from what I hear of his TV series only the Climate Change Denial episode is utter BS.. all the rest being refreshing for MSM fare..)
okay getting back to Griffin, here's a excerpt from http://www.bigeye.com/griffin.htm "I came to the conclusion that the Federal Reserve needed to be abolished for seven reasons. I'd like to read them to you now just so that you get an idea of where I'm coming from, as they say. I put these into the most concise phrasing that I can to make them somewhat shocking and maybe you'll remember them:
The Federal Reserve is incapable of accomplishing its stated objectives.
It is a cartel operating against the public interest.
It's the supreme instrument of usury.
It generates our most unfair tax.
It encourages war.
It destabilizes the economy. "
ps. @pariscommune -- using a term "conspiracy nutter" is extremely counterproductive. It's the same as "conspiracy theorist" which the MSM uses as code to tell people, "just stop listening to any facts this person has to submit".. a censorship tool. Conspiracy is one of the most common crimes prosecuted in courts today. Yet this idiot parlance conveys the idea, "OMG, that person believes there can be a conspiracy about something. What insanity!" Tell me: do you believe the Warren Commission report, itself a cockamamey conspiracy theory? If so, you're in the minority. Many in fact contend that we've been under a military coup since November 1963-- and they have a good point.
I'm thinking it might have been this excellent show, which you all ought check out: http://progressiveradionewshour.podbean.com/feed/
And though I think Google is Big Bro for databasing everyone's IP etc. for later sale or whatever, if you're already using it there's this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7auQEXTWomA
ps. You heroic folk out there in the street ("Direct Action Gets the Goods!") would do well to remember to take some time to unwind and get your mind off the oppression from time to time.. I like to do this with fiction.. in particular "old time radio" free from www.archive.org (along with great classics to read!) .. heck even WBAI has a OTR show that's worthwhile.. go for the radio-noir detectives!
