OK, I have a question for all. How many of you have a Facebook account?

Facebook is one of the biggest companies by value in the US. It spends millions on lobbyists and has the President and other high government officials visit their headquarters and the Facebook execs seem to be always welcome in the White House.

So, what exactly is Facebook' product that gives it a market cap in the tens of billions of dollars? YOU are the product.

This company extracts and stores in their massive databases information that even makes Google jealous. They know your likes and dislikes, they know what websites you frequent and what products and ads you respond to.

They know your history, who your friends are, where you live, what you drive and what kinds of work you do. These things vary of course, but every single post you make on Facebook is stored, evaluated and categorized to be sold at any time.

Facebook has staff that only respond to "requests" from government agencies for users information and profiles. Requests that topped 300,000 in the last year and most were granted without even a thought of fighting these police state warrant-less requests.

Some here want to bring down the banks and "wall street". I am not sure if that means the stock market, the place where a majority of Americans have some type of direct, or indirect stock holdings or single companies or?

This is a company that walks all over the population of the US, and yet every single time more information comes out about the intrusion into the privacy of its users, there is a small uproar then more postings as usual.

Facebook does not allow a person to see pages of anyone, without you first having a Facebook account.

Businesses large and small flock to make their pages noticeable and spend lots of money and man hours to keep relevant.

So you want to do something against corporate America and strike a real blow, dump your Facebook pages and demand they stop tracking you (unless you make that demand they still track you even after you take down your page).

Lets see just how serious you are about doing something against this perverse use of your life. Lets see if you do something about being a product of a corporation. THEY SELL YOU...that is their product.

Dump Facebook by the millions and strike a blow for the 99%.

Of course that is just me. Your results may vary and I doubt people really will even consider this. Just a thought.

the tech world is a harsh ruthless place.

not many years ago the incumbent myspace was mercilessly stripped of its pole position in the social network rankings.

many enterprising folks are trying to make the next facebook killer.

I don't get the appeal of Facebook.

I don't have a Facebook account.

Some of my relatives are on there, I told them they need to continue using email & the telephone if they want to reach me.

I'm astounded that people are using it to organize politically. That just goes against my grain.

Fuck Google plus, too.

One big invasion of privacy. Fuck that.

Yeah I don't disagree.

The point of the post is that people support Facebook no matter what they do, and most don't even give a thought to the fact that they are the product that is sold.

Seems like if people really hate corporations as much as some say they do, it is rather odd that they voluntarily support this company.

Hahaha! What does Facebook have, 800 million accounts? Yeah, go ahead "99%", dump your Facebook pages. 5800 pages around the country disappearing will bring 'em to their knees.
