This video is EXTRAORDINARY. This world famous Harvard / Princeton professor knocks it all of the park with one of the most dynamic speeches I've ever witnessed. Important to watch all three parts. I recommend beginning the first section at "4:38" on the youtube clock (skips the introductions / thank you's :) . Enjoy.

part 1 of 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjZydhfUxqs (start at 4:38 to skip introductions)

part 2 of 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTOfjle-fK4&feature=related

part 3 of 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH1uxEMoBMY&feature=related

Cool. Glad you enjoyed. West is a great speaker and really gets to the heart of things. Cheers. :)

All voices for reason and growth must be shared out. What may not reach one persons ear/attention may well reach an-others.

That exponential potential for the spreading of info is what gives us such promise for overthrowing the current oligarchy. They just can't control what info spreads anymore. They can't contain the truth.

And we ( all ) must share sane and positive thinking. To show the light.

Positivity does spread like wildfire :)

When West gets rolling, he really hits the nail on the head. He's unstoppable. Incidentally, he's probably been more critical of president obama than most republicans (from a whole other angle of course). Oddly enough, president Obama called West a genius.

Happy holidays, I'm going to have to come back to this, be easier with a note ;)

It just occurred to me that if we include the 1% in the picture, we can get the support of the 100%. Why stop at 99%? The truth is, the societal shift being pushed by OWS supporters really benefits everyone.

from a certain viewpoint, but I think that one of our problems is thinking we can fix inequality without "hurting" anyone, truth is the rich are too damn rich and any plan that helps them get richer just won't help the problem

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 11 years ago

Oh, I'm with you 100% on that. Not suggesting that they won't have less. Income and wealth must be more fairly distributed. The rich will end up with less of course. At the beginning, some may call that "harm".

But to tell you the truth, my hope is that most of us in the 99% and the 1% will come to measure life on a different scale where the commons have value and community relationships and the well being of others has real value and one's personal net worth becomes less and less significant as a measure of a life. To me, this is what is REALLY going on: GOOD NEWS http://occupywallst.org/forum/new-view-why-gun-control-peace-treaties-campaign-f/ and this is one path to help is get there: WE HAVE THE POWER (using direct action and web in tandem:  http://occupywallst.org/forum/we-have-the-power-to-turn-this-world-around-this-o//

ahh, The Enlightenment, The Omega Point, The Rapture

[-] 1 points by therising (6643) 11 years ago

Don't getting me wrong. I'm not in any way suggesting that we "wait" for this new era. We have to bring this new mindset into existence, it seems, one by one. If you check the first link I provided above ( http://occupywallst.org/forum/new-view-why-gun-control-peace-treaties-campaign-f/ ), I am not trying to sugarcoat it. It's definitely a lot of work. . . but a different kind of work.

Also, I'm not suggesting we change in any way the effort we're putting in to push back like hell. I'd like to see a 1,000 protests like the one last year on the Brooklyn Bridge that was reported on round the world. I think it's going to take a lot of that too :)

Oh I know that you encourage action.

I have for the last few years focused on the "awakening", I came back to "current events" only because I saw people who recognized the dangers of wealth inequality, this is work that I feel should be supported.

Definitely.

Cool. All the best to you. May you be surrounded by family, community, laughter and love. May we human beings, all of us, continue and double our nonviolent push for fundamental political, social and economic transformation. I hope we find real traction on those fronts in 2013. As the great Cornel West once said, "Justice is what love looks like in public." It's the ultimate expression of love, a gift that keeps on giving! And justice can bring with it peace.

I sincerely believe a virtuous cycle has begun. Cheers!
