Thanks, I was actually looking for this to fight some trolls. I wish this could be pinned...
Facts, charts and evidence. Great site.
I am very surprised by the article and where it is coming from, but they nailed it.
Thank you for the informative post. Henry Blodget has expiated himself of all that hyperbole he gushed at the apex of the dot.com era 1999. America is truly the land of second chances. I love America.
Yeah, but that was written before it became clear the movement is dominated by kooks.
Do you mean the trolls trying to discredit it?
No, I mean the trustafarians who embrace visiting multimillionaire entertainment celebs, like Russell Simmons, who literally drove to the protest in a car that costs more than some 1%-ers earn in a year (500,000 bucks, and it's just one of a fleet of cars he owns).
I was very excited about this when it started. I think the 1%, with their ability to legally bribe politicians, have made a mockery of democracy in this country. But we blew it when it became 'owned' by kooks and limousine leftists.
What a damn shame.
Wouldn't you consider that a troll? These people have no idea what the average middle class American is dealing with. People have to take this seriously if it is going to work. The tea parties were shunned for the same reason, it was the fringe that took it over. We should have standards. Yes you can go in a suit, yes, if you are homeless come as you are, but stand in solidarity and seriousness. This isn't band camp, nor is it woodstock. This is our future.
No, I don't think Simmons is a troll inasmuch as I don't think he is consciously trying to hurt OWS, he's just incredibly shallow and oblivious to how his presence undermines the movement's credibility. Worse, no one in the movement seems to realize it either.
The powers that be couldn't stop this, but we're doing it for them. Too much silliness, too many fringe types, too many 'radical chic' limo leftists (Simmons, Kanye West, etc.).
I hope I'm wrong but it seems to become more ridiculous as it grows.
