A true and just democratic energy system would be based around a network or grid linking up diffuse safe, green and renewable energy sources. Solar, Wind, and Small Hydro must replace the centralized mechanisms of Nuclear Power, Coal, Natural Gas and Oil/Tar Sands which are a serious threat to our species and the fragile ecosystems of our planet. IT is time to demand that our tax dollars stop subsidizing the giant energy corporations like Entergy, Constellation, First Energy, American Electric Power, British Petroleum and others... We need to demand a transition to Safe, Green and Renewable energies NOW. Nuclear power plants must be shut down, tar sands must be stopped, NO coal is Clean Coal and Fracking must not be allowed. Our natural environment is breaking down completely, and Cancer and respiratory illnesses are and EPIDEMIC!!!! Helen Caldicott will address some of these issues at the General Assembly on Sunday evening at 6 pm. IF we are the future we must have clear and thought out approach as to what our energy future will look like.

we are for a new world -- the Occupy movement is drawing critics all the time. If we had a true green energy revolution, literally millions of jobs would be created. we need to demand that the workers at these outmoded and unsafe centralized and corporatized energy facilities are taken care of while they transition into clean renewable energy jobs. i've been striking iron for decades and will be taking part in the launch of occupy Toledo on Monday. Changing our Energy choices is a part of this resistance movement, at least it should be !!

This is a resistance website - you've made an academic posting. What are doing when are you doing it. Get out of your head and get something done. Strike while the iron is hot.

shutting down power plants and other major faciltys that employ millions is not a satisfactory solution. It will just spark another more focused protest this time aimed at occupy wall street participants and all its supporters. Drawing critics to the true aims and motives of the Occupy movement. Not a good idea.
