Uncommonfilth, I have no problem with organizations delivering a message to congress representing X constituents, I just do not think the delivering of money is in the interest of 999 of 1,000 Americans.
if it was about voice rather than money, if unions and the sierra club did not have to try to compete with corporate money, they would be both better off.
take the money out, and regulations will be far more in line with public interest. (nothing is perfect, but we would be closer to a process for public interest).
We need to get rid of ALL lobbyists though. Corporate lobbyists are only 1 part, there is also Union lobbyists and non-profit lobbyists which command a large purse in the game.
corporate lobbyists serve perhaps 1 out of 1,000 citizens.
isn't 999 out of 1,000 a voice that cannot be denied?
There definitely needs to be a cap on how much anyone person or organization is allowed to donate. And to how many people. It's unfair that with enough money to put into a PR campaign you can purchase however many congressmen/judges you want.
no problem winklewankle... no lobbyists for any economic interests, no contributions from lobbyists of any stripe.
too muddy? how do you benefit from corporate lobbyists?
pretty much.
