According to Leon Panetta, a former member of Congress, Chief of Staff in the Clinton White House, and Obama’s newly confirmed CIA director, “legalized bribery has become part of the culture.” Members of Congress “rarely legislate; they basically follow the money . . . They’re spending more and more time dialing for dollars.”
THIS IS THE HEART OF THE PROBLEM AND IT MUST BE STOPPED
I agree... it is bribery. We should also ban all non-citizen money from any political campaign or issue advertising, direct or indirect. And citizen money should be capped not only for each campaign but also nationwide as well. 1% of the previous years Average US wage for a campaign and 10% for all campaigns nationwide cumulative. Congress will want to vote in public financing in short order.
I agree that everything else first depends upon cutting the ties that bind big monied interests to the legislative and regulatory processes...
