Hi,
I was at Oakland this evening and what a wonderful showing of diversity, camaraderie and support. There was one sentiment which has been echoed with others and in public forums. There has been much talk about the “RICH” with indignation and contempt. I heard “them” being called our “enemy”. It is a very polarizing statement and will shut down many ears. I would not like to see this movement die based on some generalization. I want change for my son’s generation. We don’t HATE the rich. It is the CORRUPTION we hate. But we must be specific, otherwise the media and the corporate thinkers will take it and run with is, shutting out any negotiations.
This rhetoric will be called shallow and jealous. Here is a fine article from Matt Taibblog, it was posted in the Rolling stone magazine. Please take the time to read the entire article at the bottom.
“When you take into consideration all the theft and fraud and market manipulation and other evil shit Wall Street bankers have been guilty of in the last ten-fifteen years, you have to have balls like church bells to trot out a propaganda line that says the protesters are just jealous of their hard-earned money.”
If we hate the rich, why are there 250 millionaire elected officials in Washington
