As OWS grows as a political movement, it will be important to have clear goals that transform well into soundbites (unless we can somehow transform the very way Americans consume information). The Federal Reserve Transparency Act (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Reserve_Transparency_Act) is an obvious first concrete goal. As it stands, we the people have very little knowledge about what goes on behind closed doors, and the banking establishment is incredibly opposed to any attempt to peel back the curtains. What are they hiding?
This Act has a few other things that make it ideal as a first step. It is already written, with a number of cosponsors from both parties. It does not require any spending or money, as its sole purpose is to make the actions of the Fed available to Congress and to the public.
By organizing to get this bill passed against opposition from the Obama administration and other allies of the banking establishment, OWS will gain crucial experience and abilities to effect further legislative change. Additionally, the knowledge gained by casting a light on Federal Reserve actions will help make the case that there is massive systemic inequality in which the wealthy use unfair advantages to grow their wealth. That seems to be what OWS most opposes - it is not that wealth is inherently evil, but instead that the system currently enables wealth to concentrate to the detriment and not for the benefit of society.
they've already tried. the answer was economic holocaust if the bill is passed. transparency is not on the agenda
Uh, if OWS can't accomplish this, then what can it hope to accomplish?
Moreover, if transparency alone would lead to "economic holocaust", then clearly the system is corrupt beyond imagination, and transparency is needed more than ever.
the only way is to abolish the fed, and return our country to the sovereign nation it was born to be. the constitution says no one other than the us govt is authorized to print money, and to print without usury.
even all the money now printed in the entire world would not pay off the debt owed the plutocrats. the system is designed to fail, and our handlers know it.
violent protests will result in Marshall law. read up on FEMA and their authority, and don't forget camps are already set up and foreign nationals are ready to be called (because they would have no qualms killing civilians since we are not kindred)
yes, it's much worse than we know.
