Forum Post: Drummergate Memo: OWS' "Dean Scream" moment

Hey kids! In the future, we'll have world peace, economic justice, and no more Wall Street bullies. Everyone will love and help each other in small cooperative communities. The only scourge of our future Utopia? Roving bands of drum circles, sowing terror across the American countryside, like Mongol hordes, raping and pillaging.

And there you have it. Occupy Wall Street's "Dean Scream" moment, the moment when everyone suddenly realizes that the crusade they signed up for is led by people who are rank amateurs and have gone too far, too fast.

Let's put aside, for the moment, that to publish an internal e-mail like this describing (in great detail) seriously huge problems and lack of order in your movement, is just about the dumbest thing you can do. Let's just look at the meat of the message here: Occupy Wall Street is desperately short of people who are needed to police their own people.

Think about that.

Not only is Wall Street laughing, so is Main Street now.

But hey! Who needs strong leadership in a movement? Not Occupy Wall Street! Everything's collective and collegial and consensus-based! I'm sure those disruptive drummers (and the homeless people who apparently make up 40% of OWS encampment now, since there's free food being handed out) will eventually bow down to the purity of consensus.

What's really sad, is that yesterday OWS actually got some great worldwide press because the OWS group up in Albany managed to get both the city police AND NY State Troopers on their side, embarrassing Governor Cuomo. These Albany protesters were quietly planning to move into the NY Capitol for the winter, and with the goodwill from the cops, they very well might have succeeded. The NY Capitol, for those of you ignorant of politics, is where the "Millionaires Tax" is to be decided - you know, the tax that benefits the fat cats on Wall Street.

But, thanks to the arrogant, self-deluded dickwads down at Zuccotti Park, the Drummergate Memo is going to be today's top story.

Losers.

your challenges will strengthen and streamline the movement Owlet, thanks for the feedback.

Another lie in your post says 40% of protesters are homeless that isn't true. Plus I guess because you have no real argument that you use these lies to try to ruin this movement with insults. Because to you The homeless are lesser people... Lesser people shouldn't get opinions or be allowed to protest. You have no real opinions. You are harrassing people. Go away until you can act like an adult and treat people with respect. When you can do that express what you feel the country should or shouldn't do. Quit looking down on people like your shit don't stink. Have a good day.

No, the homeless aren't lesser people, but when they are just sitting around eating all your food and stealing your stuff, they aren't exactly contributing to your movement's effectiveness.

Again you are spreading lies?? What homeless are down there stealing and doing nothing I would like names. Most of the people protesting aren't homeless. Much of the extra uneaten us then donated to the homeless. That food is actually given to them without asking them for anything in return. They can eat the food and oppose the movement for all they care. You dont seem to actually care about this movement so why act like you do when this post makes lies about it and insults people in it.

I'm saying the media is showing OWS instead of Albany because they will get more ratings. It isnt because OWS decided what gets broadcasted

News flash: the people in Albany are doing it right. When you do it right, you don't get media coverage - you get RESULTS.

Good I'm glad that they are accomplishing things they have done an excellent job. Iv praised them on different posts I'm just commenting about the poster of this thread. He makes it sound like OWS decides what is in the media when they don't.

The way you decide what's in the media is to not publish stuff that will make you look stupid!

Are you saying OWS is a publishing company??? If you think this website is then you are mistaken. This site is for OWS news there are different sites for every group. They are all going to inform what is going on in there group. Occupy albany site is going to promote occupy albany

So you are insulting the protesters for protesting??? If you don't like what is in the news contact the media??? OWS don't decide what the media produces. The media is going to show conflict. Conflict creates ratings. If you have a problem with what gets televised contact the media not a protest group. And quit insulting people that is crude

The media didn't show conflict - someone sympathetic to OWS did (the guy who published an e-mail from an OWS activist on his website)

Dumb.
