“These choices were made out of necessity due to a drop in consumer confidence brought on by actions on Wall Street, inaction by Congress and the European debt crisis." ~ Governor Christine Gregoire (see site below) http://www.ofm.wa.gov/reductions/alternatives/packet.pdf this is going to be horrible, and she states that she believes most other states are facing similar situations. It's time for everyone to read this book. Wildfire:The Legislation that Ignited the Great Recession, written by a middle-class taxpaying American fed up with the direction America is heading. It offers real common-sense (something that seems to be in short supply) solutions to America's recession. It starts with education, and when that's the first victim of budget cuts America's future is in real trouble.

Thanks for this information. It looks as thought there is a group forming to advocate against some of these cuts as http://sosmovement.com

The thing about some of these cuts is that they will result in INCREASED spending due to the elderly, disabled and mentally ill increasing their use of emergency services and inpatient facilities. Very shortsighted.

absolutely...and really there does not seem to be much of a choice here for the state, they have already cut so deep into everything that now vital programs are taking a hit. I am curious to see what will happen next. And thank you for the link...

If it meant people would not suffer like they will if this happens then yes. All it would take is raising taxes on some, not all.

Would you rather they raised taxes on everyone?

I'd rather they apply a death sentence to some sex offenders, based on case. Cutting school support may actually end up being benificial in the long run....
