Forum Post: Don't Shrink/Sell the Post Office!!

Posted 11 years ago on Sept. 11, 2013, 10:56 a.m. EST by shoozTroll (17632)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

How many "private" organizations could have survived the onslaught that's been perped against the USPS?

My guess would be none.

It's resilience should be proof enough of it's efficacy.

It should be the envy of every corporation.

Instead?

They would prefer to destroy it.

It costs a lot more to send stuff via UPS and FedEx. They are just trying to rip off the American people yet again. Go USPS!

Corporations destroy everything they touch. Save USPS.

Boycott the politicians that take their money, they're an ALEC board member.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

pat pat pat

[-] -1 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

Thats about the trollish response I was expecting

Campaigns against UPS may want to include exposing the money in politics from them.

http://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/summary.php?id=D000000081

No point in boycotting their products if you support their workers in government.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Darlin'? You aren't worthy of a response. Now, shush, the adults are talking.

[-] -3 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 11 years ago

It looks like FedEx is lobbying Congress even more than UPS these days.

Between the two of them, thats a lot of money being thrown around.

I thought the any weight shipping promo by USPS was a good one.

"I've heard a rumor that the United Parcel Service is behind a very carefully crafted campaign to destroy the USPS and privatize every aspect of mail delivery."

You want to ruin UPS and all the poor employees who need their jobs based on the voices in your head but you are demanding links to credible sources from someone else?

In addition, the Postal Service, because it is public, has a mandate to serve all of the public no matter where they are. Unlike private corporations that operate only in areas where they can turn a profit, the Postal Service serves everyone. In some rural and low-income urban areas, the post office is the only institution that connects those communities to services and to the rest of the world.

That is exactly how it works out for every aspect of the public: education, IRS, post office etc. Every single one of them. Once it goes private, it's a half ass job and done for profit. These nimrods have a problem with all.

Hell, locally you can check out how many more minutes a privatized ambulance service has to respond. Insane. Not only can they not pay their people..........they can't even show up in the same time frame. Nice job lil' libertopian thugs.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

It's the libe(R)topian way.

If you can't compete?

Destroy your competitions ability to bring their service.

One of the aims of Microsoft's purchase of Nokia, is to force Android to charge more for their services.

Consumers be damned.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Exactly. They can scratch that whole more efficiency shit.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Yep, and that's the end result of Bush's forcing idiotic retirement payments on them.

That's money they can't use to improve services, thus harming their ability to continue to out-compete those industries shackled by Wallstreet's vig demands .

all public utilities should be public

employment at such facilities functions to place money into the hands of the people

so entrepreneurs can work for that money

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

"all public utilities should be public"

Yes, they all should be, not just the USPS, but try and tell that to the libe(R)tarians.

They're still buying up the commons all over the country.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Also - were you aware that UPS uses the USPS for some of it's package delivery? Whats up with that? I mean if the USPS is so bad - why would UPS use them?

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

I just ordered something online and did not realize that it was being delivered by UPS. That pissed me off. Tricky, ya? Then they sent me a track the package email through USPS. But, all it told me was when it left. I made the assumption that when it said 6-9 day standard shipping-it was USPS.

I ordered two books from two different book stores (used) at the same time. I received an email and they left at the same time. Now, first of all I was not aware that one bookstore was using UPS. Had I known, I would never have ordered from there. One went through the USPS and arrived 3 days ago. The one from UPS arrived today.

Now, I am going to give feed back to this store and let them know that I will not order from them again because they use UPS. It's called the one-woman-fuck-UPS campaign.

One of my Hot buttons - IS - Cancer Charities Research treatment - Why? - Because they do not lobby to get known carcinogens removed from products. I have lately in the last couple of years begun to pester them about this fact and I have not - not yet - gone after the AMA - but I think I will soon.

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

The AMA should be pestered. :D

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

The World Health Organization as well.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Big time along with the pretty much useless Surgeon General. Just think of the people dying each year from shit that should have been removed from products YEARS AGO. Damn it pisses me off - IS THAT OR IS THAT NOT ACCESSORY TO MURDER OR EVEN MURDER THROUGH DEPRAVED INDIFFERENCE ???

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Yep.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I wrote a post a while ago - concerning some of this - I think it is long past time that I should put out another post - but also continue with making contacts with these places - and try to get some response from them.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

I think it's a great idea. I'd be interested in their responses.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I think that along with contacting them and asking for a response - I should also ask em a question = Do you think society will start to shun you for your not doing immediately what can be done to stop millions of cases of cancer from happening - and that by the simple expedient of removing known carcinogens from our markets our produce our cleaning products our shampoos and soaps etc etc etc

Should there be a shaming campaign?

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

If I was contacting them, I would want to check the integrity of their response and I would initially just be straight forward and polite. People are more apt to communicate with you better if they are not automatically put on defense mode and afraid of a gotcha moment where no matter what they say is going to be wrong. You can usually figure out by the tone and information provided of what their stance is. Too, you may contact someone that feels like you do and will say, "Hey, I agree with you but I am limited here, here and here and in order for me to even go there then this, this and this needs to be in place and I have zero authority over in that".

But, you can't tell until you try.

One more warm-up tweet for now

DKAtoday ‏@DKAtoday

To Die of cancer because of something you eat or drink? A matter of free choice? I don't think so - Or All Drugs Would Be Legal as well.

Warm-up TWEET

DKAtoday ‏@DKAtoday

Query - Why haven't all of the identified/known carcinogens been removed from the food we eat & other products we use? ask the AMA???

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Do you think perhaps I should ask - With the incidence of contracting one form or another of cancer on a increasingly fast rise - even for what used to be rare cancers - well how do you - the people you know at work - your family - your friends - how do you all feel about the possibility that you will have one or more cancers in your lifetime?

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

I should be able to walk into a public access building and get a check up

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Well.............you may not want to do that at the library.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

if they have the equipment , I'm fine with that

those buildings are providing internet these days

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Well Hell - try your luck at the DMV when you get tabs for your car - save making unnecessary trips.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Absolutely - 1st polite questions - like - Hey do you think it would be possible for you to get together the medical community to lobby for the removal of all known carcinogens from our food and other products on the shelves in our stores?

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I lied - one more TWEET for tonight

DKAtoday ‏@DKAtoday

Can carcinogens be removed from tobacco?

Can carcinogens be removed from our food and other products?

Remove them wherever possible?

[-] 2 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Glyphosate (roundup) is being bred into the food.

Known carcinogen. Get monsanto out of govt agencies, supreme courts, presidents pockets.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Yes a good addition/example - GE/GMO - there are plenty that can be done.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Good for You - this is what everyone needs to do. There is something you do not like about a business ? Tell em about it - then tell em that it is next to impossible to reclaim customers they lose due to poor business practices. {:-])

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I'm not aware of that, but it certainly doesn't surprise me.

There are also things the USPS will deliver that UPS won't.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

There are also things the USPS will deliver that UPS won't.

I was not aware of that.

But yeah UPS has now dumped off my package delivery to the USPS a couple of times now.

LOL

You always miss the libe(R)topian connection.

You always skip over ALEC.

You always skip over the SPN.

You LOVE those curmudgeonly Kochs

And you just FAIL every time you try and follow the money in N. Carolina.

Mostly you just lie and FAIL.

But then, what else can be said of a guy who calls the 99% asses.

[-] -2 points by broncoze (-126) 11 years ago

He also always shirks. Don't forget that

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

That may be, but you're still lost in that paper bag you're in.

[-] -2 points by broncoze (-126) 11 years ago

The good new is that Gov Cuomo just made shirking illegal, so you must be thrilled.

Wait.....oh. Sorry, I read that wrong. He made bath salts illegal. Bath salts, not shirking. My bad.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

There's no hope for you.

That bag is much too complicated.

Give up.

[-] -3 points by zimvind (-157) 11 years ago

Saw a headline today that said Britain is going to privatize their postal service

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

As I've said many times before, libe(R)topia has gone World Wide.

On the plus side, I suppose this means you're moving to London so you can be a part of it?
