Guys, we cant be all over the place, we need to focus on achieveable goals and simple things that will be most effective. The main list of 6 greviences is a good focus. And even that list mainly focusses on 3 things,

  1. CAMPAING FINANCE REFORM "our govt "IS NOT" for sale" we must end corporate personhood.

  2. Seriously changing or ending the FED, especially its public funded loans to private "for profit" banks at OUR expense

  3. CHANGE FED SUPORTED BANKING PRACTICES. Changing the regulations of banking to operate on more sound money, and not having our own tax money lended to the banks, only for them to lend it back to us with higher inflation. This process is what has cause home prices to go from an average of 40K in the 50's to 300K today. College costs follow suit going from 2 or 3 thousand a year to 25K. Inflation hurts us all in every way, but helps those who facilitate it, and create this system of keeping us in debt for everything. This debt is stretched over 30 yr loans, which is the majority of our working careers. We must change banking practices, even if not through govt but on our own, we must refuse massive amounts of debt; thus becoming 19th century indentured servents. Almost like slaves.

We do this and focus on the main 6 goals originaly posted, and capitalism and free market balance will take care of the rest. In a true capitalist economy with a democratic govt; its imposible for those at the top to prosper while the bottom is in extreme poverty because no one can buy the goods and services that support their wealth. It would also be impossible for them to be getting rich without expanding a tangible business producing a product, thus hiring workers. Right now, when the economy is bad, the fed just prints and lends out our tax money raising the debt on our middle class, and keep the banksters money train rollin. Plus with FDIC backed banking with little regulation, they have free reign on US the taxpayers to continue to make bad decisions, and stick us with the bill. Lets keep our focus and make some changes. WE ARE THE 99%!!!!

OWS is focussing on replace the old system with a new one as Wikipedia did for encyclopedia.

"We may never be able to prove, through logic, that direct democracy, freedom and a society based on principles of human solidarity are possible. We can only demonstrate it through action. In parks and squares across America, people have begun to witness it as they have started to participate. Americans grow up being taught that freedom and democracy are our ultimate values, and that our love of freedom and democracy is what defines us as a people—even as, in subtle but constant ways, we’re taught that genuine freedom and democracy can never truly exist."

If you accomplish #2 wouldn't that mean #3 is fixed as well? Campaign finance reform is good but that won't stop the corruption. Adding Term Limits would make CFR exponentially more effective.

Was there ever a vote on these goals? I'm not trying to be mean, but something needs to be organized to define the one 'true' set of clear goals. Especially with OWS pushing a democracy.

I think we have to accomplish #1 in order to achieve any other goals. Why not focus on that one. Does anyone disagree with that goal?

It is definitely a start.

I agree, i think that true democracy of by and for all of the people, and not just the ones who throw the most money at a politician; will solve most of our problems.

Yea, I just summed up an overall mood. Theres a much better more official list, its six goals and im pretty sure its officialy endorsed by OWS. Its the only officially endorsed list. Just google OWS official 6 goals.

The Tax Code must be reformed in order to deal with the 1%. See My Post: 'FIGHTING POINTS- CHOOSE AND DO IT NOW'.

to "deal with the 1%". Deal with the fact that the top earners in this country pay over 80% of our tax dollars and you morons suck the life out of our society with your pandering and go home and STFU

[-] 1 points by rehsa2194 (40) 13 years ago

And if they were paying so much in taxes we wouldn't be in all this debt. And while were driving this economy their sitting on their asses extorting the system and using our govt spending to make themselves rich. Never heard of lobbying? Incentives? Bailouts? Pork Barrel spending? Govt spending on privete business contracts? Thats who'se draining society. Truthfully a moron would never have the ability to drain society and have other people doing their work for them.

Now you listen up stupid. Im tired of that crap about them paying so much of the taxes. Heres some simple math for the simple minded. If you have two groups, both of them taxes ad say 30%, one of which has 80% of the earnings the other with only 20% of the earnings, then of course the one making all the money will pay a larger sum in taxes. I tell you what, if I had 1 million anually in earnings I wouldn't cry about paying 300K in taxes. Especially considering I pay 30K off of my 100K in earnings right now. Shut the hell up with that stupidity moron, the fact that they pay the most is only more proof of how large a slice of the pie that they have.
