I think its pretty obvious to anyone who steps back for a second this left-wing vs right-wing media campaign of FOX vs MSNBC is as real as pro-wrestling.

On top of agendas, they rely heavily on sensationalism to boost ratings and keep people tuned in. They really do not care about the truth. Then they sell their services as hired guns to get and keep their candidates elected.

Solution. Citizen journalism. Stop waiting for MSNBC to show up.

How to:

  1. get video camera, and decent computer. Need video editing software? look up "pitivi" and "openshot" both free and open source.
  2. Find a name for your self/show.
  3. start as many social media pages you can. link them to as many intrested people as you can.
  4. Find news that is happening near you, film it and upload it.
  5. start a blog, WRITE and post news articles.
  6. collaborate with others.

I should also say this. There are enough liars, assholes, and agenda'd fuckheads in the mainstream, we don't need any more.

A few points to remember, and a few mantras to live by:

  1. Since the media is now judge, jury and sometimes personality executioner, raise your right hand,(place left on religious text of choice, optional), and swear "I will report the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth".
  2. Neutral Point of View(NPOV) used to be the standard for the news, bring it back(let the viewer decide who's right and wrong).
  3. Realize you are no more empowered to do this than anyone else. You have no special rights, nor do you need them.
  4. "The best disinfectant is sunlight." If there is a problem you can't personally fix, bring it to the attention of your fellow citizen.
  5. There is no need to lie to participate in "conspiracy theories". "The truth is bad enough". There is no good reason to lie for your cause.

For years a RIAA(Recording Industry Association of America), and its steering committee have had a stranglehold over all you hear and see on mainstream media, and with close integration with the government they worked to silence opposition. As we speak their empire is falling apart.

  1. The internet. Now people aren't stuck with cable news. They also have a medium to fact check, and communicate with each other that doesn't go through the mainstream news. As they loose control they desperately send paid PR men to try and tame the internet for them. They will fail, they don't have the resources to do so. Just keep strong and ride it out.

  2. The quality of computers and electronics has risen dramaticly while their price has fallen dramaticly. Years ago you needed a powerful high end workstation to do video work. Today, just about any computer under five years old will do. Yesterday, a video camera good enough for serious work cost thousands of dollars. I picked up a good enough High Definition handheld for $99. Hard Disks, thumb drives? Measured in the gigabytes and terabytes now? 1TB drives are now under $50. All available at your local electronics store.

A working man can afford the hardware now.

  1. If you run linux the entire suite of software is free, open source, and easy to install on your home PC (seriously check out ubuntu). Community developed software will be developed as long as their is a community demand. No companies going under, being bought, or cracking down on you. Oh, its all free too.
