Forum Post: Don't Let A Bureaucrat Get Between You And Your Doctor.

You've heard it before, you'll hear it again, but guess what? The bureaucrat is already there in the form of an insurance rep patently denying services, procedures, or tests. Don't believe this mantra from the (far) right side. Profit should not be part of health. Health care should be a right. People shouldn't have to choose between food and overinflated drugs from legal pushers. I myself have put off going to doctors because I couldn't afford to.

The reps deal with health insurance, not quite the same as health care. Would certainly be better if there were no insurance companies at all, single payer is the way to go. As long as there is insurance however there is going to be profit, that's what makes businesses work. As for health care, we can get a single payer system if we can convince the public. Only thing we really have to get them to understand is that it isn't free. Tax us and make it work, I may result in an increase of 30 to 40 % in taxes for all, unless we cut elsewhere, but it's what we need.

If those that still have it stopped buying private health insurance, those companies would disappear and we could enact universal single payer.

I wish! But we are trapped in the system. Without insurance you're Really Screwed. I am paying down ER bills from when I wasn't insured. Have no choice unless I want my credit rating trashed. I am a small business owner, as small as they get. Me, myself, and I. If it were not for my wife job and her insurance, i might be dead now. Pre-existing conditions prevented me from getting insurance on my own.

Yes, well said. These are the real death panels. Unfortunately our culture has convinced many people that healthcare is not a human right...how ironic and they call themselves Christian!

OMG! If they practiced what they preached the world would be a better place for sure. I wonder if any of them actually read to book they love to quote from. Jesus detested bankers, spoke out against them, and well... we know how that story ended.

You would think they have read it, wouldn't you?

Wow, your right. Death panels DO exist, and they are not just a "talking point"

Obama care will drive cost out the roof then, because a massive beaucracy is all government is. I pay out my ass for health insurance and have no complaints, as I have used it massively too. Even if I didn't use I would pay gladly. The answer is not Obamcare but reform of the current system. Obama divided our country right down the middle and is laughing as we turn into what the rest of this sad ass world is. Tyranny by the Bosses that we call government. Btw, I have a family of four and make less than 50,000 per year.

Something tells me that you may not be voting in your best interest.

At least he tried to do something. What would be amazing is if the two parties at fault could work together for the common good of the people they are supposed to work for.

Correct. I am a libertarian. I hate government and these control freaks!

I get clients from Europe and Canada occasionally. I love to talk to them about their healthcare systems, politics, etc. They think we are crazy/stupid for fighting amongst ourselves about such matters. I agree with them. When it comes to social issues their opposing parties come together and work it out for the good of all. What happened to the "common good"? Jonas Salk didn't patent the polio vaccine he created. He said it would be like patenting the sun, he wanted it to be accessible to all. American history is full of benevolence, what happened?!? It's all about profit now everywhere you look.
