We must not forget that the 1 percent of America depends on the 99 percent. They depend on us for their mail, to teach their children in school, to keep public transportation running, to continue the electricity they have.
One of the key reasons why the Civil Rights Movement was so effective against unfair treatment of African-Americans riding the public buses was that they all came together, stopped using the buses, and actually car-pooled one another to and from places. It resulted in a huge economic hindrance against the public transportation system that they were forced to change.
If the 99 percent came together, and actually refused to continue working for the 1 percent. Then, we'd finally see results.
Two reasons the Civil Rights Movement was so successful was 1) TV - Americans across the nation, even in places where no black lived for hundreds of miles, were now watching and seeing the bigotry, prejudice, and violence on TV, right in their living rooms 2) There is no counter-argument to Civil Rights..."...no, we really should discriminate based on color of skin..." finally ran it's course
The 99 percent will never come together for a boycott, and boycotts are rarely effective anyway. If you want to play the "who can hold out the longest" game, I'll put my money on the 1 percent.
oh snap. like fight club
No doubt about it.
