Most people have no clue what a total capitalist system looks like, nor do they realise they wouldn't want to live in one. Capitalism at times is the best system to use, other times it's more of a socialist approach. For instance, we don't want our military, fire, police, and utilities to be privatised totally to capitalist values. But most people have not clue when to use one and not the other.

Taxes pay for these services that have been mismanaged by a lot of yahoos who believe in hooking up someone for something in return. Capitalism allows one to have ownership, manufacture, distribute, retail, etc... This is the American Dream, however, some choose to not pay taxes and the people we elect have chosen to not take the high road as public servants.

Lucky we have such brilliant minds like you Daennera and opensociety4us to enlighten us on how stupid we are and that we live in a "fake" capitalistic society. Thank god us most people (the 99%) are too stupid we should be thankful you are with us.

you're welcome

[-] 2 points by Daennera (765) from Griffith, IN 13 years ago

What are you talking about? I'm talking about people like my parents who scream about how Capitalism is great..........except my Dad is a Teamster drawing a pension, my parents sent me to public school, they draw social security, use Medicare, they use the local utilities, fire, and police protections.

People on this board seem to think economic philosophy revolves around ideology. It doesn't. Economic philosophy is just a tool to create the society we want to live in and we are to use the philosophies that work best. Ideology be damned.

Wow, sounds like teenage rebellion instead of philosphy

[-] 1 points by opensociety4us (914) from Norwalk, CT 13 years ago

more often than not, teenage rebellion is a good thing

[-] 1 points by Daennera (765) from Griffith, IN 13 years ago

It's not rebellion at all. It's the truth. I am as capitalist as you can get, but even I know a full blown capitalist only society would mean ruination. I just wish we'd use the socialism a little bit more judiciously.

And I'm 28. Far past the rebellion stage. At this age I KNOW my parents have had no formal training in economics and it shows. But my dad was a truck driver, what do you expect?

[-] 0 points by roloff (244) 13 years ago

Ok dumb truck drivers are too stupid understand economics like you. Wow you truly are above us dumb sheep (the 99%) maybe you should be the 1%.

[-] 1 points by opensociety4us (914) from Norwalk, CT 13 years ago

goodness, it's incredibly sad that you see yourself this way. go get some help.

[-] 1 points by Daennera (765) from Griffith, IN 13 years ago

Well sweetie, if you don't study it how COULD you know it? Economics isn't divine knowledge you know. If you can't tell me who Keynes even is, you probably shouldn't be talking about economic theory.

But you're one of those people who think that everyone should have a say aren't ya?

[-] 0 points by roloff (244) 13 years ago

Oh wait a second you know Keynes, wow I am guessing you went to college and now you have done that you are smarter than everyone else.

[-] 1 points by opensociety4us (914) from Norwalk, CT 13 years ago

if she rigorously studied something it doesn't necessarily mean she is smarter than you. It does mean, however, she's probably more qualified than you to speak on that matter. I have no clue as to whether you are smarter than my doctor or not, but I sure as hell ain't going to you for medical advice. Understand now, asshole?

[-] 1 points by Daennera (765) from Griffith, IN 13 years ago

No, I didn't go to college. I chose to be educated instead.

[-] 0 points by roloff (244) 13 years ago

For the daughter of some dumb truck driver you sure are smart, how do I get learned to have the smarts about economics like you. Should I watch more tv?

[-] 1 points by Daennera (765) from Griffith, IN 13 years ago

We have a lovely public library system and used books are a dime a dozen.

[-] 1 points by rickMoss (435) 13 years ago

of course! That why they need us to be their slaves.

We need a better way to fight back. Protesting is courageous! But we have to do very big things to solve our very big problems. We need a new vision for America and a revolution to move it forward. An occupation just doesn't cut it.

FIGHT THE CAUSE - NOT THE SYMPTOM Read “Common Sense 3.1” at ( www.revolution2.osixs.org )

Free people shouldn't act or live like slaves...

[-] 1 points by opensociety4us (914) from Norwalk, CT 13 years ago

I don't know. Smoke some weed, douchebag, maybe you'll figure it out.

[-] 0 points by roloff (244) 13 years ago

Wow, coming from the smartest person on the planet I was expecting something a little more clever from the person that exposed the fake capitalistic country we live in

[-] 1 points by opensociety4us (914) from Norwalk, CT 13 years ago

Obviously, such cleverness would be lost on you.
