Tear gas was used in Oakland. More police violence elsewhere, I forget the details though, saw it on the livestream.
We need to find out what on earth is going on between these people's ears - are they afraid of losing their jobs, perverted by their training into vicious thugs, psychopaths, or what???
There is all this talk about cops "looking ashamed" But that is bullshit. Actions speak louder than words. If they are so ashamed then we need to know why they are doing it - if they are so afraid of loosing their jobs we could incorporate that into our public statements, chants, etc.
Understanding always help, and do we eve need some help here. So, are there any ex cops, people with cops for spouses, friends, or whatever that can do this sort of thing?
Maybe we can get some cops to come to the open mic night or something???
We need to hear from the rank and file, honestly though not through spokespeople. That means we have to get something worked out so that they can feel comfortable doing so, too. Maybe we could solicit anonymous emails. In any case we will of course have to be careful of propaganda, plants, lies etc. that are sent to us by the supervisors or 1%ers.
We definitely need to get some of the cops on our side although I have no ready answer as to how. It was highly effective in some of the other resistance movements across the globe in recent years to get the police and military sympathetic to their cause. A whole lot more difficult here obviously. On a positive note, the cops in I believe Albany, NY refused to evict the occupiers in their park since it was a peaceful gathering. The occupiers are trying to work with the city to get a permit for a peaceful demonstration.
