Why get away from capitalism as it exists today? So workers can get paid much better and more fairly. So there is more respect for nature. So we can control our economy and government free from corporate influence.
We need to change from brutal capitalism to responsible capitalism. Responsible Capitalism (named for lack of a better term, and to contrast "irresponsible") can lead to even better systems if a nation desires, but with brutal capitalism, the state of a nation is deadlocked.
Through the Constitution of the Conglomerate (Referenced http://www.occupywallst.org/forum/constitution-of-the-conglomerate/ ), we define what responsible capitalism is and we enforce it.
You'll probably immediately want to say how silly this sounds, because of course capitalism can never be responsible. I understand where that's coming from but I only agree somewhat, because anything is possible - it all depends on relationships and dependencies.
RC is something to keep in mind while the conglomerate matures. It's more of a concept or philosophy we use to guide our governance of capitalism. Perhaps it can never be fully attained, but we can strive for it.
The manifestation of RC will be witnessed as the conglomerate website opens information sources and channels between consumers and subsidiaries. See more about how the Watchdog keeps tabs on subsidiaries and high-profile political and corporate figures: http://occupywallst.org/forum/p2-presence/#comment-892620
The manifestation of RC will be witnessed as Phase 1 subsidiaries develop the Constitution of the Conglomerate ( Referenced http://occupywallst.org/forum/p1-incorporation/#comment-892453 ; Referenced http://www.occupywallst.org/forum/constitution-of-the-conglomerate/ ), enforcing new and existing subsidiaries to behave within our democratically determined parameters.
The manifestation of RC will be witnessed as Phase 3 "consumed" subsidiaries undergo their transformation. When there is no more pressure from shareholders, no interference from elitists or highly paid executives, less damage is done. When "Democracy at Work" (Referenced http://www.occupywallst.org/forum/conglomerate-and-democracy-at-work/ ) is implemented, the employees of consumed subsidiaries get paid much better and have full democratic control over the following:
what/how/where products and services are produced/performed
who is employed and how much they should get paid
what should be done with the profits
