I heard you asked, "where do we go from here?" So, with great respect for what you have thus far accomplished, I wish to offer some of my current passions on the subject of which path to truck and why.
The Democratic campaigning theme of 2012 seems to be developing into:
The Republicans will not allow the jobs bill to pass. And that is TRUE.
The Republican message as a group seems to be embodied in a future that gives voice to Corporations which amplifies the voices of the 1%ters while simultaneously silencing the voices of the 99%ters by such actions as taking away collective bargaining. Thus they are moving us from "No Taxation without Representation" back to TAxation without real representation.
However, as we were being asked to civilly request that Boehner's group stand behind the jobs bill.......they, the group of Republicans that stand as one unit plus about half of the Democrats, did in the dark of night, pass the NAFTA type Trade agreement with Columbia, Korea and Pannama. In addition they passed compensation for those Americans that will, because of this agreement, be added to the growing numbers of America's unemployed.
And now, we are back to the Jobs bill....and the Republican's refusal to work with the White House.
Therefore, it feels imperitive that now, before the 2012 election, we must make it clear that justice for Ameicans means:
1. the jobs bill for American workers to rebuild the infrastructure must be passed -- NOW;
2. the trade agreement must be revoked or reworded to protect workers. And no bill should be allowed to pass in the dark of night with so much public dissent.
And to stop the inclusion of negatives into positive bills we must request that the bills b e written in clear language and each part of the bill must be voted on separatedly.
3. You guys have effectively turned the conversation from deficit spending to jobs and injustice. We must make sure that Republicans do not have the opportunity to
return the discussion to the deficit by being asked "why they will not pass the jobs bill" We do not care why......the proof of their intent and goals are in their choices.
The question we have to ask is -- why the Democrats are not fighting harder to pass the bill..
3. the greening of American must begin NOW....with American workers using American manufactured good. One way to make this a priority is to fight against
the Tar Sands, fracking, nuclear plants, mining coal -- the pollution causing deseases industries that are bringing about the deaths of many of earths inhavitants and greatly compounding the costs of health care .
4. our government must be more transparent, more responsive to our reality, and stop diverting our attention from the reality they are creating behind closed doors.
5,The attitudes, the values, the priorities of business and government, their practices, their reward system and the code of ethics must begin to change.
To do this we must grow our thinking and influence our government.
And if we cannot influence our government then we must either:
a. force onto the ballot a new group of candidates that are capable of the kind of leadership that
will bring about the change that will benefit us all.
Or
c. we must move from representational democracy to direct democracy. With the internet at our disposal we have many options of mass governing.
The funny part is: they, the 1%ters seem to be willing not just to trade our well being but their very own.. For our planet is raging against us with storms and floods and deseases caused largely by the pollution promoted by 1%ters. If they continue on their course, they will most surely bring us back to Man against Nature and guess who will be the big winner.
You guys have opened up a general awareness that the 99%ters have a right to a society where justice, hard work, fair play could become the accepted and valued rule for all, and the hope that together we can make it happen.....this hope you have awakened us to....
