Congressional Reform Act
- Term Limits.
12 years only, one of the possible options below...
A. Two Six-year Senate terms B. Six Two-year House terms C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms
- No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
- Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.
Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.
The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
I like the idea of "Term Limits" ... that way people can't be all about politics forever... do you notice a lot more seems to get done before the end of a Congress cycle? Like right before the 2010 elections... congress was like "oh shoot" we're running out of time... let's pass a lot of stuff.... if let's say 1/3 or 1/4 of congress will "never serve again" they will get stuff done... maybe be less likely to "sell out" ... more concern about leaving their mark... I do believe there is good in everyone... they must of wanted to get into politics initially to make a difference, to help America.
I agree with this!
here here ... good work ... we also need to make them and our senate members along with every branch of our government - Responsible parties that give back to their communities... same deal for corporations...
keep writing!
