I know this sounds kind of crazy but hear me out.
Why wait until the next election to get it right? Why not start with the ones in office now.
Yes, most people know big money practically buys Washington. But no politician ever admits it.
The point isn't so much that the money will actually be paid back. In fact, I wouldn't expect anything to actually happen. But it would be great to expose the politicians. There are a few websites that post these kind of information.
The point would be to expose them for the general public. Get specific facts out there. And, of course, expose politicians from the left and the right. And make them accountable to the people by asking them the question: are you influenced by the $$$ so-and-so gave you? Do they get to have special or even secret meetings with you?
When the politicians campaign they always say they represent the people. The question for them is how they can say that when there's so much money involved. And if they are serious about not being influenced by the money, then show it to us by giving the money back. So then we know for sure that they are not employees of the rich.
Again, the point isn't to have millions sent back to corporations and the rich. The point is to put politicians on the spot, make them accountable, expose what's happening, get information out (so that more will be aware and considering joining).
