Forum Post: Declaration Sollutions

I believe that we need to do more than just make a declaration of issues to our government. We are the people, and we need to say what we want, not just what we don't like. The points raised in our declaration are all valid points, but they don't come with any views towards actions or definitions of the issues at hand. In many cases, we are asking for attention to the problems from the people who have caused the problems. We need to also say what we believe should be done.

They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.

Where would we be today if Henry Ford had been told he could not build the Model T because of the negative impact it would have on the coal industry? Where would we be today if William E. Boeing had been told he could not build air planes because of the negative impact his actions would have on the passenger cars of rail-roads. In the past, when a new technology was introduced that threatened the old technologies, it was on the old technologies to adapt. This fact is what made America and mankind in general great.

Coal mines adapted by finding new uses and consumers for their product. The argument can even be made that by freeing coal from the title of being the only fuel source for transportations allowed more coal to be available for the smelters and blast furnaces that provided the steel for Henry Ford’s cars and, in fact, the rest of the American portion of the industrial revolution. Though some coal miners may have lost their jobs to the mass produced internal combustion engine, countless more jobs were created by the direct and ancillary benefits of Henry Ford’s vision and practice.

The same can be said with the rapid adaptation of the airplane from its humble beginnings at Kitty Hawk. By removing trains as the only form of long distance travel available to the masses, more and more train space was available for transportation of goods. Again, it can be argued that whatever jobs were lost from the drop in commuter trains was more than made up for by the ability to faster develop more and more regions for human expansion and societal growth.

If we put an end to the blocking of research and introduction of alternatively fueled power sources, the same amount of crude that is being harvested daily could, and should, be put to different uses. For instance, most forms of fertilizer used by farmers in the developed world are derived from crude oil. One barrel of oil can produce 19.4 gallons of gasoline on average. Thus, one barrel of oil can propel a modern car, at 30 miles per gallon, for 582 miles. That means that one barrel of oil can move four people 582 miles. How many people can be fed for the same barrel?

They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.

If a business owner were to arrive at work one day, and find that his assistant had failed to complete any of the duties of their position the day before, the business owner would be right in firing the assistant. If a CEO were to discover that one of their Executive Vice Presidents had failed to accomplish any of the duties required of their position, the CEO would be correct in not only terminating that VP, but also bringing suit against the VP for wages paid lost profits, regardless of the nature of the failure. If a corporation must require public funds from tax payers in order to stay in business, then the corporation is responsible to the people.

The actions of those in charge of the corporation should be reviewed prior to being paid any wages by way of the public funds. If the review shows negligence or incompetence in any of the actions of those operating the corporation, then the people should decide whether or not those responsible should be paid.

Here are some of the recommendations I believe should be made;

They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.

If a con-artist gains money through a confidence scam, and is caught, the con-artist is expected to surrender any and all gains they received by way of their confidence scam. A corporation which not only fails to ensure their customers understand their products, but blatantly designs its products to not be understood by their customers, with an eye to the profits it can make off of the failure of its products is in itself a corporate con-artist. The gains this corporation receives by such business practices, whether these practices were performed in malevolence or incompetence, are thus ill-gotten gains, and should be treated as such, to be returned to the hands of those who were victims of the con.

I believe in freedom and democracy and with that freedom comes the freedom to work, to live and to do so without being oppressed by anything or anyone as long as you stay within the confines of the law. In saying this i agree with the occupy wall street movement in saying that it is time for the 99% to have a say. Do you think for a second that anyone in congress or in our government is not corrupt look at them all of them are millionaires who only get wealthier every minute they are in office. Supplying a multitude of insider trade information to their spouses who are legally allowed to own stock. We are already living in a communist country that acts like a republic. The federal government has become to far removed from the public. They no longer have to answer for their actions because they stay in office for decades. Why don't we have a two term policy that would prevent politicians from making a career out of government? Why can we not have spending limits on campaigns that way even the poor could get elected to office not just the people that are already rich and connected to have the business world? Where did President Obamas millions of dollars in endorsement money come from? These questions will never be answered because to answer them congress would have to impose laws and sanctions against itself yet this will never happen. I may not be as wise or as experienced as some of the people posting on this wall but i can smell crap from a mile away. If anyone with half a sense looked at our government they could see the black hole that is an excuse for democracy. I am not a socialist i am not a communist I am a very pissed off american. If we as a people can come together and demonstrate that we will not sit idly by and be discarded and not accept the bottle of lies that we have been nursing since infancy then quite possibly we can save our government from becoming the very thing that our forefathers fought against. WHY ALL those years ago did our forefathers insist on states having more power then the federal government? They insisted on this because they could see the potential danger in having a few rule the mass. I support occupy wall street not because i believe that capitalism is the basis of evil but rather because i see freedom slowly being sapped from the american people. It breaks my heart to watch the news, it breaks my heart to see the corruption, but it would kill me to sit idly by while the freedom that i was gifted at birth is stripped away from me. I once believed that america was the home of the brave and land of the free and one day i hope to believe that once again. In saying all this it brings me to what should be asked for. We as a people need to demand that the government impose sanctions against itself we need to demand that the campaign system be revised. we need to demand that companies are not allowed to donate to contestants. We need to demand a term law limiting congressmen and senators to two or three terms. We must also demand the state governments be given greater powers over the federal government. These will not come easy nor lightly these changes must start from the bottom they must begin with the people of this country standing up for what is right.

What we are seeing today is not capitalism. It's not even capitalism's illegitimate cousin, twice removed. What we are seeing is a nightmare straight from the pages of Ayn Rand. The wealth today is being focused not in the hands of those who produce, but in the hands of those who find ways to take money without labor.

They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantial profit.

The Constitution of the United States of American is often quoted for stating:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Using our nations own legislation as a means to halt the development of generic forms of life saving medication as a form of profit protection is in direct contradiction of two of the aforementioned unalienable rights; the rights of life and liberty.

To say that denying a cost effective generic medication to reach the hands of those who do not have the means to afford the, often times drastically, more expensive non-generic medication is not a denial of the right to life, but is instead a denial of treatment, is a lie of the worst proportions one can make to another, or even to one’s self. The simple and glaring truth of the matter is that an action such as this is comparable to an attempt at murder.

Additionally, any company or citizen who pushes our nation’s legislation to make an outlaw of any person or group who searches for a cheaper, generic substitute for a costly medication is in effect trying to deny the people of our nation their right to liberty. To say that a person is a criminal if they pursue another option to the one provided to them is denying them the liberty of choice. If only one person can find an answer to a problem is one thing, but to answer a problem, and then not allow anyone else to search for another answer is in effect an attempt at a monopoly, and therefore a crime.

Furthermore, by denying people the right to search for new answers to problems will lead to a stagnation of the human mind. If man is not allowed to question, to search for answers, and is forced to accept only one answer provided to him, he cannot grow. If mankind cannot grow, mankind will wilt.

Repeal the Taft-Hartley Act. Unionize ALL workers immediately.

Raise the minimum wage immediately to $18/hr. Create a maximum wage of $90/hr to eliminate inequality.

Institute a 6 hour workday, and 6 weeks of paid vacation.

Institute a moratorium on all foreclosures and layoffs immediately.

Repeal racist and xenophobic English-only laws.

Open the borders to all immigrants, legal or illegal. Offer immediate, unconditional amnesty, to all undocumented residents of the US.

Create a single-payer, universal health care system.

Pass stricter campaign finance reform laws. Ban all private donations. All campaigns will receive equal funding, provided by the taxpayers.

Institute a negative income tax, and tax the very rich at rates up to 90%.

Pass far stricter environmental protection and animal rights laws.

Allow workers to elect their supervisors.

Lower the retirement age to 55. Increase Social Security benefits.

Create a 5% annual wealth tax for the very rich.

Ban the private ownership of land.

Make homeschooling illegal. Religious fanatics use it to feed their children propaganda.

Reduce the age of majority to 16.

Abolish the death penalty and life in prison. We call for the immediate release of all death row inmates from death row and transferred to regular prisons.

Release all political prisoners immediately.

Immediate withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Abolish the debt limit.

Ban private gun ownership.

Strengthen the separation of church and state.

Immediate debt forgiveness for all.

End the 'War on Drugs'.

I am all for the movement but some of these are pretty out there. But these are all things we need to discuss, but lets try and be realistic about, remembering that ours are not the only voices or opinions that must be herd.

So is that why my comments pointing out the socialism of this movement are consistently removed? Because yours are not the only voices or ideas? Right!

I do believe that most of the communist platform is present in this list, plus a bone that was thrown to the bong smokers. Not red baiting, just pointing out what is all over this site. It's hard to deny to people that this is a socialist movement, and socialist movements are a tough sell to the general public!

Sorry, Dudley. I don't get a lot of access to the news or the internet where I'm at. This is the first opportunity I've had in a few days to look at any of this. I'm currently overseas and I don't get a lot of access to any form of news. Thanks for helping me out.
